No comparison, the Dalai Lama advocates non violence whereas Osama bin Turdhead advocates all types of violence including mass murder.

No, the government of China has continued to portray him as being fully responsible for all of the violence in Tibet, and the murders of ethnic Chinese that has taken place in Tibet during this time.
Even today, China's government went on a full media offensive against the Dalai Lama and everyone who is criticizing their current military occupation of Tibet, and the mass arrests taking place of protesters . See this news report for the latest things that China is saying about what is really happening inside Tibet:

So you see, the Dali Lama is really an international criminal mastermind and terrorist, and needs to be arrested, and brought to trial in China for his numerous crimes.
Do you have any concerns that he would not get a fair trial in China??

Something tells me he probably wouldn't make it to trial. To answer your question, yes, many concerns.

PRC won't even allow live broadcast of the Beijing games.
Seriously? If so, what is their reasoning?

I really wonder how the protest started... All I know is that monks and westerners found that 2008 a convenient year to protest about the province of tibet.
-
While I understand the massive hurt it would cause the athletes who trained so hard for their part in the competition, what wouild happen if no one showed up for the Olympics?

Russia would show up as China is their slanty eyed brother in arms.
So btwn the two of them, there would be many gold and silver medals :)
-
Can you imagine what would happen to the global economy if the 2008 Olympics were boycotted?
The Chinese could instantly cease all trade agreements with the nations that boycott the games. I really do not think they would give a rancid rodents rectum about any perceived economic impacts, they've already got what they really wanted, the technology and the means to use it. They've been an isolationist country for so many years it really wouldn't bother them in the slightest to slam those doors shut again. The rest of the world however has invested so much money getting into China that it would have a devastating impact on their economies. In short, it really does not matter how the rest of the people of the world feel about it, nothing is going to happen.
-
That's true now, but give it a few more years of the Chinese people coming to know and love imported things from the USA and Europe and then the government will have a real problem cutting them off from it.
-
The UN will write them a strongly worded whine, which will be ignored.
