ive noticed lately it can take alot to shoot down an apponent.
today i fought 3 different spits 1st was a spit8 he to repeated hits till i was finally picked off him. other 2 were 16s & basically the same story, 1 i hit atleast 8 diff times & he finally escaped into ack to land.
i could go on repeated fights that end that way.... sometimes emptying whole clips into some models.
granted im far from a good shot & my usuall ride (110c4b) has light ammo, i still find it a tad fustrating. even just the mgs alone that many hits shoulda dealt enough damage.
i see it as 3 possiblities:
1) lag...which there is alot of now.
2) damage modeling is incorrect.
3) every1 says german 20mm suck? so it is only german planes that experience this?

The 110C has super-crappy MG/FF 20mm cannons. They have poor trajectory and do little damage. So, on the off chance you are actually hitting someone with the 20mms and not just the .31's, its not surprising that they're not going down.

Had a Spit V cross my guns just long enough for about a 1/4 second burst, basically only a tap of the trigger, last night and my Hog's 6 .50s sheared the wing right off.
I'd chalk it up to either net lag, or you only hit him with the .30s.

I dont see a problem. the P-39 is doing great for me. I just wish the P-39Q had the 20mm option. that would be alot easier and better for it. :devil
I was in my P-39 Q with the 2nd gun pack and I saw a Ki-84, I used my primary firing button (no cannons) and after a 1 second burst across his canopy, he exploded. No cannons required. I think things are getting a bit easy.

An all or nothing damage model will always have the potential to be frustrating in that way, however, it works for you anytime the enemy is one bullet short of making your wing fall off in his snapshot and is now in front of you.

I was having the same problem with 190s. Problem was me not hitting with the cannons. Once I figured out the trajectories it became easier to kill other planes.

i know ppl wont agree with me, but alot of guns are under powered... ive seen videos of like 4-5 50 cals hit a wing on a plane and it fall right off, or videos of 2-3 20mm shot into a plane and it blows up.. in the game, nothing like that, but o well, still a pimp game

Happens here too. Just depends on where you hit.

The videos you saw might also show target aircraft in a high G turn. In that case, any significant stress on the wing could cause it to buckle. This goes back to the all-or-nothing dammage model mentioned above. How many times do we shoot a good burst into a Spit16 only to have them still flying and turn with 4-5 G's onto our 6? :lol

there are two types of ballistics. Controlled ballistics and street ballistics. Guess which one combat falls under....

the 39 seems pretty tough, ive shot down a few in the jug, and more than once ive put a burst of 50s into one and let off the trigger thinking "your done" only to see only a fuel leak, or no damage at all.

Hi Dick
Granted that lag can be an issue but front end is front end. If you see hits the guy is taking them................ all be it a moment later.
Like you say your a poor shot. Your aim just hasn't improved in 2 years or so. Why? Got convergence set at something insane like 650 yards but taking most of your shots at 300 or less? Have you tried mixing the convergences ? 275 for the bb's and 300 for the 20mm's. To take account of the ballistic drop of the 20's especially in turns? Have you a problem with nose bounce (joystick jerky) and can't hold a 1 second continues hit? There's a reason Dick but you need to look for it and work out the best solution. Stick settings / convergence / lead / aim or bloody Vsync in the graphics setting. It's something......look for it.
There's a reason that 110C was relegated to night fighter. OK it's your gig but It's just not stellar in any respect. Nothing about it that it excels in....nothing. It's an anvil and has to be worked hard for the desired effect. Like a Hurricane 1 it's unreasonable to expect snap shot kills but unlike the Hurricane it lacks the agility to stay with most fighters in the MA, depriving you of that 1 second continual burst.
Yer... yer folks are going to say it does this, it does that and you'll have the experience to agree their points but who actually uses it or more to the point why isn't it used. Could it be it's just under gunned? At best it's a hit and run machine mate, but it lacks the hit.
Feel free to print this post and use it in the bath room...for what ever :aok

The 110-C is one of my favorites.I don't depend on cannons so it fits just right. The guns are a bit on the weak side, but i have found if you get upclose and personal with the 110-C you do more damage ie. less than 50 feet away shooting thier cockpit up.
On another note: i have fought you in the past (i think i was 109) with a squaddie, i made several upclose & personal 30mm shots on you from point blank range only to see the round go right through you without any damage so maybe it is LAG, maybe your connection is a bit crappy.I had only one encounter with you so far in the arena so i hope this helps.
