OK.. so it's a piece of junk 1989 Topaz we just sold today... but aside all of its problems, it was a good car.
I bought it for my wife (then my girlfriend) planning on it lasting six months to a year for $300. Who knew we'd still be driving up to today?
Anyways we had to let it go, being we just bought an '05 Escape to replace it, and are coming up a little bit short to pay for the taxes. It was just sitting there anyway.
My wife is a bit.. torn up about it, although she knows we did the right thing. She's had a bit of an 'emotional bond' with her car (named Putt-Putt), and insisted on keeping one of the keys, and the faded jack-in-the-box antenna ball that's been on it for three years!
The guy who bought it this morning just blew up the engine on his Camaro, and quickly needed something to get to work tomorrow, and to drive until he can afford to fix it. Putt-Putt will definitely serve that purpose!
Plus we sold it for $400 (Technically a profit, but when you figure out inflation.. maybe it's a bit of a loss.. oh well at least it seems to be going to a good home).
I guess I don't quite understand the whole emotional bond thing with cars, but I can appreciate the sentimental value, as it was the first thing I ever bought for her!
Anyone else have emotional car stories to share?

It kinda reminds me of those people who make their own cars. They spend so much time working on it, putting it together, doing all that stuff. Then, years later, they are forced to sell it for whatever reason. I'd think it'd be pretty emotional.
