I didn't think at first i'd really like the thick clouds in this and was pretty much prepared to be disappointed in this FSO. What a shock to realize i actually enjoyed the challenge of trying to keep the enemy or my flight in sight! It sure makes you pay attention to your gages as this last sortie i found myself disoriented during a turn, upon looking at my gages i saw to my horror i was in a flat spin. :O Useing my gages i managed to get out of the spin and pulled out of the resulting dive at about 2k. Makes me wish they had this more often in the MA.

Honestly, I think the weather in this frame was BETTER than North Sea. The overcast is thicker and it's been darker out, but the higher cloud cover offered significantly better visibility than the lower clouds/fog bank in North Sea.
-
I like the Fog and Clouds. They enhance the realism. :D

Yes this has been one of the most enjoyable FSOs I remember. :aok
-
They're not as thick as the "North Sea" and since I'm fly'n a B25 I wouldn't mind if
were dark as night.
-
Love the clouds!!!!!!!! Make it thicker, Make it darker, Make it more!!!!!!

I like the thick clouds just fine. I like em more than a random cloud layer. I think I'd really like some puffy cumlus clouds of random sizes and alts to play hide and seek in.
Thumbs up on clouds.

The clouds and weather are awesome!
Actually having enough cloud to experience vertigo in AH is great. Actually get some use out of that horizon indicator now.
-
Excellent job on weather, gentlemen. :rock

I'm really enjoying the weather... I've felt for a long time they needed to start using it (even to a lesser degree it should be in the MA).
Anyhow, I hope that the CM's will remember that some fights really did happen in good weather too :D Lets not OVER do the clouds and make them feel like a burdon... They are like cayenne pepper... A little really makes it good, but if you over do it, no one will eat at your house again.

I'm gonna fashion something for you for next month Kurt. I'm gonna call it the "Pigpen Effect". Wherever you go, you'll be followed by a cloud. :t

I really like the clouds & winds. Would it be too much to ask for rain? :pray
-
Aye.

Hey, as long as it only follows ME, then its a great idea! I love being singled out for abuse :rock

:O I am waiting for the random thunderstorms to roll in! :devil

I love the clouds/weather.

haha, hey, don't punish them for my bad behavior! :uhoh

The weather adds a little realism in the dogfight. I heard from frame 2 where did all those Zeke's come from?
HEHE! - Good job on the weather. Rain & snow would be a good effect for the Aleutian of islands.
Weather always changes quickly on a island. :aok - GGhost

Now it'd be cool if we had the old clouds without icons inside them.
-
Me likes!

Due to the way AH has different ways of displaying on nvidia cards vs ati cards, the clouds are not a good option for me.
Say you have a wispy cloud layer, darker grey haze/fog, then another wispy cloud layer.
On an nvidia card, player names actually disapper between the 2 wispy layers, as the icons are displayed behind the haze somehow. This was repeated many times the past 5 frames (counting north sea).
Also, nvidia graphics tie the clipboard and all clipboard icon colors to the sunlight. Darker sunlight dims the green colors, and against the blue background with limited light, I was literally struggling to read the clipboard to find my start base.
Somebody else told me (when I brought this lament up) that they never had this problem. On a hunch I asked the make of their vid card, and it was ATI. I've had it on 5 major PC upgrades, 4 motherboards, 3 nvidia graphics cards, and 3 CPUs. Across the board, nvidia cards seem to get the shaft in these settings.
I'm hoping to get an ATI soon, and that should put these, and many other bugs behind me.

My old ATI card obscured the icons behind clouds and linked the clipboard colors to the sun. I'm not sure you're going to find what you're looking for.

If you got a ATI 1600 - 512MB RAM - video card is a pretty good starting place. If you go lower you may run into video problems. And some up dating your video card bio's. You may also want to have 512MB of extra video ram that comes with the card. It sure don't hurt.
ATI has been known to make their video cards for flight sim games in mind.

If I can afford it, the 3870 is my goal :O

The weather has added a lot for me, the last 2 FSO's were much more exciting having to look hard for targets. I have an Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT and don't have any problems with it. The last several FSO's have looked great and I don't think my frame rate has been below 50 yet.
-
Clouds and visibility settings have added a lot to the last two events.
Regarding nvidia cards, I have an 8800gt and I don't loose the icons in the cloud layers or find the effects too dark to read the clipboard or other maps. Last night I was able to keep track of our escorts as they were in and out of the cloud layers. No loss of icons.
