WTF. Ever since update cant get it the game. Takes a dozen attempt to get in, then discoed... Doesn't matter which arena. Most of the time I cant get past the arena screen with out getting booted back to sign in screen. Nothing has changed on my machine. I have plenty of everything plus. WHAT DO I DO?????
-
Well, Nothing has worked. I have reduced every setting. changed every res. Deleted video8, cache files, watch this thing download plane skins 400 times. Every time I think I made it in.... NOTHING. What have you people done to the game!!!!! ARRRRGGGGGGG. All I want to do is play this game. YOU Addicted me now give me my fix back.....
:O
Buk

Have you allowed it through your firewall again? Or are you running Vista?
-
Preloading any textures?
-
gotta be a software firewall prob i'd say, are you running one BukRub?
Steely
-
Firewall or the preloading of textures are the most likely issues. It would help if you would be a bit more specific about exaclty what is happening that leads up to the disco. Are you being booted back to the desktop?
-
I run windows firewall and AH is allowed. I run AVG. I have never had to before, but I shut it down anyway. Still nothing. There isnt much to tell as to what happens. If I make it in, within a minute or so It says I been disconnected and swithes to TCP. I have never had these issues before. Why Now.
-
It very well could be Internet related. Trying to help, but you are being a bit terse and I need some specific questions answered (like the ones above). So I will try and do this the hard way.
If you are preloading textures, then disable that in the "Video Settings" and try it. There are more textures to load now and if your system is a little slow about it, then it could time out and drop the connection.
If you still disco after turning off the preload, try setting the "Maximum Texture Size" to 256. This is a simple resource test. Does it solve the problem?
If not, I need the DXDIAG output/
Now, while all that is going on, grab the free copy of Ping Plotter (www.pingplotter.com) and run iot for 5 to 10 minutes to 206.16.60.38 and see if the PL% column has any numbers in it. Post the image or save it as text and email it to me.
-
LOL, I wasn't intending to be terse. I thought I said above that I had done all of that except the ping plotter which I will do right now and post. I cant imagine the graphics slowing me down. I run windows XP, AMD 3800x2 with 4 gigs of ram. 7900 gt video card. Heading to ping plotter now.

What operating system? If it is Vista, then you need to rest the game to run in Windows 98/ME compatibility mode after each patch or you will have problems.
If Windows XP, are you running the game in compatibility mode or did you install the AMD patches and Windows Hotfix?
When I make a suggestion, I am trying to narrow down the issue. Please set the "Maximum Texture Size" to 256 and try it, then let me know if it makes any difference. Are you running with AA forced? AF forced? Vertical sync? Disable AA and AF, and make sure vertical sync is forced on.
-
Windows XP home. running in 98/me as always have. I did the amd patch back when I first signed up. Havnt done it since. Run max textures to 256 last night, still the same/ Here is ping plotter results. I dont know what DXdiag is?

Problems start at hop #6 and go downhill from there. Might want to get your ISP involved.
-
OK, so the issue is with my internet connection, and the update is just a coincidence? Just trying to be clear. The people at my East Texas cable company are idiots. What do I tell them?
Buk
-
The game has nothing to do with this. Point them at your post containing the traceroute information. There appears to be some type of routing or router issue.
-
Thanks for the Help Skuzzy. :aok Cable company says I have noise in the line and are sending someone out in the morning. I hate coincidences..

Outstanding tech support Skuzzy! I know how terse some of my fellow redneck pilots can be; again, thanks for being helpful and understanding. Incidents like this remind us why we switched over from Sim X.
-
All in a day's work.
-
The cable repair guy just left and says there is no problem with my internet. Of course he knows nothing about ping plotter. I showed him my results, and he cant explain it. I'm at a loss. ISP says its in the game. Game says its my isp. So what next?
Buk
-
Renamed my Aces high folder. Re downloaded the game. Moved my settings folder, and all is well now...It was not an ISP issue.
Buk
-
I hate to tell you this, but that trace was full of Internet issues. They can clear up though.
-
Fair Enough
Buk
-
Sure enough, we had two guys in the squad, including Buk, with the same issues after the update and a "complete" redownload of the game fixed them back up.
-
Most of the time the only thing that clears up when you do a re-install occurs when you are running some type of anti-virus or security program during the patch cycle and it causes some corruption.
Norton under Vista is the worst as you cannot shut down Norton at all under Vista, even though there is an option for it.
-
OK Skuzzy, You was right... I was wrong.... My Bad. I run ping plotter and get 80% PL at the #8. My ISP says there is no problem on there end. I run ping plotter on the 2 sample web sights Ping Plotter has and it is perfect running 60. I see my ISP on the #3 line. What do I do. How do I trace this problem down. It appears to be between My ISP and you somewhere. I can get in the game, but get booted to desktop after just a few minutes. Here are my ping plotter results. along with results to hitechcreations. Now being I'm not real computer smart, I may be looking at this wrong. But it still seems strange. Is there a way to reroute.. Please help, My hands are shaking from lack of airtime...

Routing is handled by the ISP's. Sure, if they are multi-homed, they can re-route. As I understand it, your ISP is not going to do anything about this, even though it is thier responsibility. There is not much I can do. I have filed a toruble ticket with AT&T, but without cooperation from your ISP, it is going to be a while getting this fixed, if it ever gets fixed.
-
Ok, Skuzzy, I'm not understanding something here and I hope you can clear this up for us. How is it possible that Buk just suddenly with the new update started having problems with his ISP servers at one particular Hop? He hasn't moved or changed providers; has HTC move their servers to a new location/provider? If so, this would at least explain why this is happening. Who else if anyone is having a problem with this isp hop?
Either way, it sucks that we have a man that pays to fly and flew just about every day, until this problem popped up. Nobody at his ISP can or will provide an answer or a solution; we just need help from anyone that has experianced this and can tell us what we need to do to fix it. Everything else of his works fine on the internet to include Brand X on-line flight sim. :frown:

We do not have control over the Internet. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, at any givein minute of the day there is a problem somewhere on the Internet. We all depend on the ISP's to make sure things get fixed in a timely manner. Unfortunately, there are ISP's out there who will not accept any responsibility for problems on the Internet.
The trace from him shows a lot of problems. Our patches cannot effect routing over the Internet. It is impossible. If it was that easy to wreck the Internet, then any script kiddie could crash it in a few minutes.
The customer is paying his ISP. If his ISP will not do anything about problems he is having, then how much pull do you think we would have?
I would love to have the power to force irresponsive ISP's to fix the problems as blatant as this one is. Just because you can get to one part of the Internet is no gaurantee you can reach another part.
I wish there was more I could do. All I can do is help find the issues and hope like heck there is a way to fix them.
-
Look at it this way.....
You drive to work everyday in your BMW. You take pretty much the same route everyday and it takes about 15 minutes each way. Things are fine and dandy when one day, over on east main street a water main blows :O water everywhere !!! So now when you go to work, one day your detoured around via west main to elm, down central street, up Jefferson and then back to east main. This adds 25 minutes to your ride due to the lights, and that darn crossing guard at the elementary school that loves to hold up BMWs !
So whos going to fix this? Do you call your boss and tell him to fix it?, do you call BMW to fix it? Do YOU fix it? Nope, your at the mercy of the "Power and water Company" and they will fix it when they are darn good and ready to!
Buk got lucky and his ISP dumped a server about the same time HTC ran an update. I've been having hit or miss with my connection for the past month or so, but that is about the same time frame as all the rain in Texas that has been causing so much trouble. Its the internet, we all have to pretty much learn to live with it. Buk could change ISPs and maybe he would have any more trouble. On the other hand the new service might be worst at fixing problems and he could be stuck on a sinking ship instead of a floundering one.
-
Awesome response Fugitive. And I wasn't trying to blame, just trying to figure out where blame was. I thru a fit with my ISP this morning and they said they would forward it to there NOED, "Network of engineers Dept". I think it is a made up Dept, But when I got home I ran ping Plotter for 20 minutes with out problem. I entered the AVA flew for 20 minutes and landed 2 kills.
Hopefully a few more Allied will fall victim to my 20mm's tonight. If not, I'm switching to DSL..

Nor was I pointing fingers, I was just desperately trying to get to the bottom of the problem, so we could fully understand what we needed to do next to get Buk back in the air. Thanks for being understanding with us and our fingers are crossed that his problem is fixed. <S>

Lutrel, you cannot imagine my frustration when I see something like this. I know what the problem is and could probably fix it if I had access. All I can do is watch knowing that the train wreck is about to happen.
-
Well thanks for trying Skuzzy, and don't let us rattle you. Lut was getting sick of listening to me whine for 2 weeks on Team speak. I played for 3 hours tonight without a single disco. The Happiness Gods are looking upon me. :D

I've read you blow off steam by vulching in your LA-7. Go ahead, Skuzzy, I won't tell anyone. :lol
Any watch out for those grenades flying from cars :noid
Wish I could help, though.
