We're a rooks based dedicated bomber squadron who use real formations and hit targets with precision. We could use experienced bombers (can hit 4 fighter hangers ore more with B-17s) however we would like anyone willing to learn bombing to join, so we can show you the secrets of bombing an enviorment that you would enjoy, flying the B-17G. So take a look:
OUR SQUADRON "THE REAL THING":
Our squadron is dedicated to all of the 100th BG (H) Bloody Hudnredth, B-17 Flying Fortress pilots who did the "dirty work" flying over the heart of Germany and destroying the factories, and munitions, with parralell percision. They accounted nearly 1400 lossess out of 3000 or more, but the majority of them hit their targets.
IN-GAME
We currently have eight dedicated members (as the squad was formed 2 weeks ago) and we fly the B-17, and only the B-17. We use real formations, and bombing tactics (such as path-finder, dropping on leaders command). On our usual sorties, we try to target Currently, we're thinking about signing up for Allies and Axis, however, the squadron needs to be trained with the old AH1 traditional bombsite, which I have finnaly figured out myself.
THE TRAINING
Every recruit WILL receive training wheather he's novice or pro (lesson's will varry on player's experience), and will learn basic formations, and the bombscope itself. When they have mastered that, they will learn the E6B, and its calculations, and advanced formations. Again, we don't care how old you are (even though most of the squad are adults) we just ask you to take this seriously. Now don't get me wrong its all about having fun and we have a lot of that throughout the squad (Talk to 100Dino ), but we fly training missions (don't worry its not boring) to keep our skills in top-shape. This will be done on saturday 4:00pm EASTERN, which is our annual training session. It's only to last for 1 hour but most of like to go on numerous runs after the training session.
BOMBING ALTITUDE & "LITTLE FRIENDS" (ESCORTS)
Our bombing altitude consists of anywhere from 10,000ft-30,000ft depending on the target. Our escort squadron is the 4thFG =Debden Boys=, and the LCA Renagades fly with us

COMMUNICATION/TEAMSPEAK
Although a lot of squads use teamspeak, we do not and we're just fine with the standard "T" transmitting. Our VOX is 282
SQUAD MEETS/ TIMES
Our squadron meetings/nights will take place on Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 9:00pm EASTERN. Our manditory training sessions take place on Saturday at 4:00pm EASTERN.
THINKING ABOUT JOINING?
We're looking for serious bomber pilots who are mature, and can fly under a somewhat dictatorship enviorment. As I said, we only fly the B-17 although most people will think this is silly and boring, we're learning to master that plane, and knowing all of its capibilites. Because a matter of fact, it is the overal best bomber in the game (in my opinion) Precision: can hit targets at 30,000ft using 6-8 sec. calibrations.

I'd be honored to join. I'm an old guy, but always loved the 17. Got to actually fly in one as a passenger a few years ago with a WW tail gunner and pilot on board. I'm upgrading my system right now, so don't think it would fly all that well. Perhaps you would let me ride along as a gunner till the upgrade is completed? Thanks.

-349 Bomb Squadron
-350 Bomb Squadron
-351 Bomb Squadron (Skin already created, Olive Drab, labeled 338 BS but correct markings for 351)
-418 Bomb Squadron (Skin alreddy created, no paint, correct markings)
I found that there were 3 skins used: Shiny no paint, olive drab, and a tan version. All squadrons used all 3.
I reccomend that you keep it at 2 Squadrons(351 and 418) untill we have a regular turnout justifying a 3rd squad.
I plan on working on a tan skin(markings for 350th) when I go to Iraq in June......

How do you chg your handle? My new one is suppose to be 100Sham.
Need some help on setting up the 17. Mine won't gain altitude. Don't know why.
Would like to fly as a gunner first few times out.

If you have auto takeoff selected, it will automatically drop a notch of flaps for takeoff. Raise them with the "W" key (default). Make sure your airframes is clean (gear up, doors closed). Those are pretty much the only reasons a bomber wont climb if your having that problem.

Gotta love the B17Gs. They are my first favorite bomber, right beside the Ar-234. I still have to polish up on using my bomb scope and dropping the bombs on time. No worries, I learn quickly! You guys rock! See ya'll out on the MAs... :salute

I just talked to chewi and you guys sound like the squad I've been looking for for the last couple of months. I fly B-17s almost religiously on 2 hour missions up to 35k. I usually go after strats but have been tuning up on crippling airfields lately. I don't mind retraining either cause most of the tactics I use I came up with myself so I'd like to see if I could still learn a few new tricks.

I'll join, I'm not that great at gunning but I'll get a bomber where it needs to go. I fly all of the B series of bombers, the Lanc, and the A20-G.
Or will I? You never know.
