Title: bomber sights
Post by: james on March 25, 2008, 10:58:08 PM
When I use the bombsight for say a b24. I level out and calibrate a good distance from target, yet still hit past the target. I drop when the cross is right on the target. Usually Iam at 10k and hold the calibrate button for a while. Before the drop as well. Could it be lag throwing off the drop? I don't see what Iam doing wrong. Iam also usually zoomed in. Iam trying to get some accuracy but really seem to be failing at that so far. can anyone give me an idea to the problem or maybe some pointers?

Why don't you come to the Bomber Clinic in the Training Arena on Thursday 10pm EST, or check out the trainers website in my signature?

Going to the Bomber Clinic would be a good idea.

But, to help you out, make sure you're completely level and in Auto pilot. Make sure you're speed is nice and flat (not gaining.) When you calibrate, make sure you're calibrating over a flat surface, IE the ocean instead of a mountain range.

Cool ill give them both a shot. I usually up fighters, but want to be able to take out hangers when needed as well with some confidence. Tried the search feature but it doesn't work to great from cell phones. Wanted to at least ask before I got home to the pc so I can get into it.

make sure your match your true speed from e6b to the calibration speed. That will make a huge differance. also remember salvo and delay.

use your eb6 to get it within a 1mph window it make the bombs hit won target every time you just have to get the speed to level out with bombay doors open hit calabrate multiple time

The two keys to an accurate drop are speed and altitude. If either of these are different from when you calibrated, you will be off. Dropping past the target means you are either higher or faster than when you calibrated.

Even with a perfect calibration and true/ground speed matching calibration speed, B-24s drop long and B-17s drop short. It's a quirk that began the patch before last. It is consistent, so you have to adapt to it if you are trying to drop with laser-like precision.

Thanks for the advice. I skipped the clinic and some squadmates got me squared away. I can hit things and break stuff now so look out! everyone!

I did not know this. Has it been reported as a bug or is it a feature? :lol
