Title: P40b gunsight

Remove the P40b's optical gun sight. I read somewhere that the P40b's only had the mechanical sights on the outside of the plane.

Flying Tigers had an optical sight.

"The P-40B was not equipped with a gun sight, bomb rack or provisions for attaching auxiliary fuel tanks to the wing or belly.  Much of our effort during training and combat was devoted to makeshift attempts to remedy these deficiencies.  The combat record of the First American Volunteer Group in China is even more remarkable because its pilots were aiming their guns through a crude, homemade, ring-and-post gun sight instead of the more accurate optical sights used by the Air Corps and the Royal Air Force."

The flying tigers did not have optical sights until their planes were upgraded.

Every plane has an optical gun sight. Why change it for one plane if your not going to change it for the other's that did not use optical sun sight.

D3A and A20 don't use optical sights.

i think they had a later version of p-40, because if you read "Baa Baa Blacksheep"(by Pappy Boyington, one of the AVG pilots) when with the tigers, he never mentioned .30 cals shredding meatballs, only .50 cal

Just looked it up in my book on the AVG and it appears you were right as for the delivered P40B's. The P40Bs were delivered without the optical gunsight, however they modified them on the field to have an optical gunsight.
