When I first came to this arena in September, I thought it was great. Everybody was nice to each other, and there was always saluting after a fight, good or bad.
This is a game guys. Both sides are just getting out of hand. All this bickering on the boards, the constant bashing, the non-stop drama-queens.
I just think it needs to stop.
So can we try to keep it civil in here and in the arena?

Well it seems most of the Bashing comes from the Axis side.....
-
well most of the reason for the well deserved bashing comes from the allied side
:D

no, the bashing comes from the axis side

Yeah yeah whatever, Francis.
Milk Vader. Luke, I am your milker. Yeah, slow boring morning, I bet. And Eng-uh-land was just there. Waiting. Then just one guy got in the way. :D

I everyone understood the content of the original post. Let's be mature and put it into practice.
Jagdtankker, storch was joking that any bashing done by the axis is justified by what the allies do, not denying what shobizzz said.
Anyhow, a lot of the nastiness I see at this forum comes from interpreting each other in the worst possible way, which is contrary to the principles of sound argument, not to mention just being civil.
What you all need is group therapy and hugs all around. :aok

do you know why you should not mudwrestle with a pig?

Yup... cause when you grabs it, ya find a storch under all that grime and refuse. :rofl :rofl

The reason for all the hostility on boards and 200, is the war. The war, naturally, breeds strong feelings for each side. The AvA staff had to know that this was going to happen. It'll stay this way until/unless the AvA goes back to being air to air rather than base capture.
The first war was a blast, the 2nd war was ok, but I'm already bored with this round. I'm probably going to be spending more time in the MA's or the DA.
I end up spending more time in C47's than 109s...and I don't pay my 14.95 to pretend to be a FedEx Next Day Air pilot...
I love the idea of the AvA, the fact that each side is historical...but there just aren't very many good fights...unless I swap to allied and fight against my own squad or JG11.

This attitude and behavior has a long history in the CT/AVA, all the war did was bring more people in to be targets of it. This arena had a good following years ago the number similar to possibly better than they are now. It emptied out for this same reason. Instead of people understanding that this kind of behavior empties out the arena, it was just easier to say those that left are wusses and don't understand what it means to be a tough guy. Most real tough guys I've met in my life say very little... They just don't have to. Take your own squadmate N72. He nevers says much, but everybody knows how good he is. He doesn't have to talk smack or bash.
Your last line is a prime example that you either don't get it, or are yourself busily adding to the problem.

You make a statement saying the war is the problem, yet you end your post with a slap at all Allied players. The funny thing is, your skills are no better than the average Allied player you insult. Yet you just had to get your little insult in. There by continuing the problem you're trying to blame on the war.
War, no war, historical setups, no historical setups. This arena has always had the same atmosphere, that's always been it's weakness and it won't change.

The AvA hasn't always been like this. At least, not the times I was involved. Sure there was smack, but this is a whole new level of rivalry between the sides.
As far as my skill level, I'll let it speak for itself. It is what it is, and if someone (say an average Allied pilot) wants to see how good I am I'll gladly 1v1 them. I may win, I may lose. People who boast of their skills are generally making something from nothing.
Having said that, skill level and a good fight aren't necessarily linked. A person can fight well, and not be that skilled. By fighting poorly I mean ganging/vulching/hoing constantly/etc. There are very skilled pilots on the allied side, but there are very few fun fighters. Oldman, Deadalos (the few times I've fought him), 1Duke1, I haven't fought you other than the DA, but you fought very honorably there. That's about the end of it. There are a couple of players I had good fights with but they were just passing through the AvA.
On the other hand, I'd gladly fight any JG54 and most of JG11 and be confident I'm not going to be ackdragged, hoed, etc. The same can't be said for all axis pilots, which is why I only mentioned JG54 and JG11.

Thats where I have to stop you and call BS. AHII was what emptied CT not trash talk. There were many people that flew CT that couldnt the day AHII came out. Including JG54s C/O and if I remember right, you its X/O. AHII was a knockdown punch to CT that it never got up from.
This war is the worst thing to ever happen to the CT. Sure it brought numbers but numbers dont make good fights. Enabling base capture brings out the worst in people. Name one time when you saw ten guys circleing a field vulching in the past three years. You cant because it didnt happen.

Republic, nothing personal with you, and what I'm saying is not intended to be any sort of accusation or blame, but....
and if someone (say an average Allied pilot) wants to see how good I am
maybe is this incoscious attitude that ruins the atmosphere in AvA (and not only....)
We are here to have some fun, even to combat a battle, a cartoon battle that is , but no way we (me at least) are here to see if someone is bettere than other .... in flying paper planes or in fighting a paper war....
Fighting to conquer a field is not that evil, maybe giving less importance to our ego can help making Ava return a better arena....

I could care less who is "better" than someone else. The AvA used to be about a good FIGHT not being uber and spewing testosterone all over the place. I really could care less if I lose in a good fight. Ask anyone who has 1v1'ed me and beaten me. A hearty <S> sometimes I ask where I've screwed up, etc. If I win, I <S> and if they ask, I'll tell them how they could have stayed alive.
The war is what has brought the focus back to winning.
I can remember, about a year ago, I used to always seek out TCFkas. He was a heck of a pony pilot at the time. We'd fight for 15+ minutes sometimes 1v1, sometimes 2v2. When I died I knew I'd screwed up, not that he'd ran me to ack/buddies/etc.
The AvA is different now, the newer people seem to love it. What is funny is that most everyone I see on these boards I rarely, if ever, see them in the game.

Alright, I'm only gonna say this once - so listen up.
A "better" player is one who is willing to fight not necessarily one who is good at it. Nobody in the AvA makes fun of players for not being good, they make fun of players for being wussys, for being scared.
Say your playing football and the ball is kicked-off. If you rush headlong into the fray and get knocked on your butt, well good on ya for tryin'. If you see the players comin at ya and run off behind the bench and hide under the Gatorade table, your a wuss and people will laugh, point, and jeer. Wuss factor of 1
Add to that If you always run and hide you never learn how to knock the other guy on his butt. Dumb factor of 1.
Multiply that by the wimp factor that this isn't a physical game, no pain is involved.
You get WIMP(WUSS+DUMB) = EXTREMELY LAME it's just a matter of math.

So much for the football correlation commentary on pain and such. I bet even the wettest noob can figure out there's nothing that physical in AHII. Must be emotional pain. I see a lot of that. Usually the symptoms are worring too much about how the other guy enjoys himself and how that makes the game boring ... or unfair ... or makes the other guy lesser somehow (whiney bravado?). I bet Tiger Woods lays awake at night if he sees a golfer in a tournament that sucks so much more than he does. Takes the fun right our of golfing for him. He may even call other golfers names at the country club and strut around their dinner tables. Hell, I just typed over a half dozen sentences and took a couple minutes out of my life (so far) that could have been better spent not worrying about how traumatized the guy who I shot or who shot me is over it how it did or didn't happen. Must be catchin'. Hate's fine. DoK had it right all along. Have fun. Be inventive. Don't cry in public .... whether you're the bestest or the worstest and maybe the other guy will just have to imagine how broken up you are to bring a smile to his face. VaVoom! :D
But I'm glad you're only gonna say that once. I don't really have time for a follow-up. I've become a rather selfish bass-tid lately. ;)
