Not something you'll see every day. In New Zealand, they allowed some live firing of 6 50s from a P40 for an airshow.
Not a real long clip, but a real sweet sound :)

I wish somebody had a decent microphone and recording device on that thing. Home camera was maxing out and cutting the upper band of the signal out (why it seemed almost stacato).
A bit clearer, and one might be able to make a sound replacement file for AH ... :noid

Wow the fact that they let the p40 actually have and fire live 50's is awesome, I gotta agree with krusty the guns firing was odd sounding, if only it was live.
Thanks for sharing Dan. :aok

Beautiful :)

Good find Guppy! :aok
Also, just as interesting, did you see the P-40 check-out video as well? it's in two parts, over on the related vids' gallery on the side. The pilot says' some pretty interesting things' about the P-40's rate of roll and manueverability.

When they redo the P-40s we need to petition for the P-40N in RNZAF/RAAF schemes.

Wonder how many rabbits they got.

You never know, at the last few airshows in NZ the Peter Jackson/Weta crew have been trialing ultra-HD def digital video camera's.

i think that he needs to use tracers on the crowd next time :lol

The N would be nice addition, we do have a R.A.A.F. skin by FTJR & I know for a fact Rogerdee will be including a R.A.A.F. skin as well for the p40 soon.

Don't forget to preflight that P-40.
Learn how here: :O

I've already got a real .30 sound, but AH has such limitations on the gun sounds that it forces me to cut off most of the wavelength to fit in the game properly.

I guess the REAL trick would be to put the microphone IN the cockpit as the pilot makes this pass. It's one thing to hear it from outside, but another from inside, through the wings, through the cockpit, through the frame, the general sound would be different.
THAT would be an interesting comparison. I bet the pilot of an A-10 hears something very different from the folks on the ground nearby.

Great Video! :aok
Long Live the P-40!!

I just wish aces high had a inside & outside sound for everything.
-
That is really cool - you can even see the shell casings being ejected. I am surprised there wasn't more flame visible. I only saw two distinct muzzle flashes during the run.

Agreed :aok

The audio is correct. That's what blanks sound like. There are no projectiles breaking the sound barrier. :rock

i watched the video titled Curtiss P-40 Kittyhawk check out 1
if HT does remod the P-40 they should use this video as an example to model from.
