hate to bother you guys but would anyone know which has the better armament the A6M1, F4F-3 or the spitfire MkV
-
Go here and select the planes you would like to compare.
http://gonzoville.com/ahcharts/index.php
Then at the bottom of the page it shows you the lethality.
Which shows the Spit V as the most leathal.

The Hispano cannons on the Spitfire are the most powerful in the game.
Given the same amount of hits from the British 20mm and the Japanese 20mm the British will always do more damage.

20mm are good, but the ammo load is limited and once they're gone you just have the 4x.303s (or 2x7.7mms in the case of the Zero) to go with, which won't do much more than tickle.
I'd take the six Browning .50cal of the F4F-4 over the mixed armament of the Spits and Zeros any day of the week. The Ma Deuce has about the best ballistics properties of any gun in the game (said this once on the board and someone remarked "WHAT ballistics?! They're lasers!" lol!) and is about as to point-and click of any gun there is. Get your target in convergence range and they hit HARD. I set the Brownings in everything I fly to 200yds, and I've sawed wings off P-47s with a half-second burst at that range.

Also remember the numbers at the comparison site are for killing buildings at point-blank range. The ballistics and energy loss over range of the rounds are not accounted for nor is the difference between the type of damage taken by planes vs. buildings.
Having said that,
"Killing Power": Hispano > Type 99 Mk I (Japanese) > .50
Ballistics: .50 > Hispano > Type 99 Mk I

The lethality of the plane/guns is measured by the pilot flying it. If you can't hit the inside of a barn sitting inside it then it really isn't going to matter what type of firepower you have. I don't care how big of a hole your gun can make, if you can't hit with it then large cannons, massive amounts of lead, ect. are not going to do you much good. I've had really good sticks swat me out of the sky with 303's and less just for the plain fact that when they do get a shot they hit what they are aiming at. Manueverability and the person in control can make all the difference in combat.
