Title: Hub gun Vertical adjustment

Alright, for all you research hounds' out there, here's a golden question. How much vertical adjustment was there for hub guns'? I ask because not only do you have to figure for the hole in the spinner, but also how much room is there physically for the gun's breech-end to drop, so that you can actually get the elevation required for something like a D600 convergence? Alot of planes' that have hub guns, have them mounted in the Vee between cylinder banks, and being as the hub guns' were usually cannon, They would most likely be large enough to take up whatever room there was, even if they were installed flat (without any elevation.) Anyone ever looked into this subject? It might be that you had no elevation through setting for distance. Maybe these guns' historically fired flat, and the pilot had to make the correction?

Just a FYI 1/16th of an inch at either end of the gun would make a huge change at 300 yards.

Second, I'm not sure they didn't adjust the gunsight to the hub cannon, rather than the other way around,

IIRC it's the whole engine in the 109s that had to be adjusted, and it was a pretty limited range and/or increments.  Don't take my word for it, though.

Once the Mk 108 was installed, convergence range was no longer adjustable.  From the other information on the same website, it looks like the Mk 108 was installed for 400 meters.  Don't know that this would have been an issue on the 190 or 110, etc. but looks like when installed as a hub cannon, you couldn't adjust the boresight.

That was a very interesting read.  Never seen that much on the Mk108.
