A quick customer service suggestion to the powers that be...
1. I'm sure you've heard this complaint before
2. I'm sure this feature is intentional to protect the sanctity of the game in some way
3. Speaking as a person who typically has small windows of time during the day in which to sign-on and kill some planes for 20 minutes....and then get back to work or a meeting...it is ABSOLUTELY DRIVING ME NUTS not being permitted into an arena with action...and instead being defaulted into an arena that holds 350 and currently has 30.
4. I am respectfully asking you for a customer friendly solution here....and truth be told...I would not mind paying more for a "VIP FAST TRACK" option that permits entry into any arena I choose...when I choose....if it were available. Money is not my issue.....time is.

I like the Taco Tuesday method at the cap at 850.
However, I would say have the Blue arena closed and keep the Orange open at the max 600. Once the 600 is reached, open the Blue arena so it would look like this.
Orange 600/600
Blue 75/120
or
Orange 600/600
Blue 175/240
and so on.....

Only problem with that would be it could cause "Squad Splits"
And Blue is only slow and boring in the few hours of the morning. Other then that, there is action. And even with 20 people, 13 of them are furballing.

From euro point of view, iīd say those arena caps really suck.
Itīs very irritating to get "Arena Full" message, when you know your friends are flying there and its capped.
I dont see any value of those arena caps working like they currently do, no reason to force people on 2 servers if there is barely enough for one.

Well, usually earlier in the evening to around 8pm i would describe it to be quite "not enough for 2 servers"
Or do you think, that 200-300 is enough to divide into 2 allready ?

"not enough"....200 or below, but my chief complaint is centered when most I sign-on....and see 30-75...that is downright horrid.
as evidenced by the popularity of Tuesday's......there is never "enough".

And how many people would be screaming about not being able to get into Orange then? Unfortunately there really isn't any other way to do it than the way they do it now.....they have tried many, and we all know that a single arena won't work. So we are stuck with things as they are.
I do like the idea of paying for a "fast pass" type of think.... not that I would pay for it, I always can find something to do when I get to log in. It would give those that just have to get into a certain arena an option.

actually 60 to 75 can be a great time....
duly noted...but in the context I mention above...not if you only have a limited amount of time to sign-on and sign-off....after a while..it get's frustrating.

The lap part is a joke !
The CON is The AcesHigh Convention usually held once a year at a chosen location
ie Las Vegas, or Texas (where ever they can find a place big enough) . Any way Aces High customers
all travel to the convention and have a social get to gether , also Dogfights stuff like that ,
Total Fun !!!
As for the arena caps and rolling limits .... It has it draw backs , but it was a much cussed and discussed solution to a much bigger problem in the past ......

Why IS orange always more popular?
I've always had better FR in Blue, even when it is filled to the max......
And, as far as Tuesdays are concerned... I logged in yesterday and logged back off when I realized it was Tuesday. I've already had enough of hording and buggy maps due to too many clients. Every time I fly on tuesday there are "ghost" radar contacts all over the map... Dar bars that come and go without there being actual planes in the area... and bases that blink when there's no one near them. And then there's the Lag. Tuesday just isn't worth the frustration, after all, this is supposed to be fun. Just my own opinion, mind you.

K This is a FACT one map in one arena is always gonna be better than the other. Theres never gonna be Old TT in Orange and New TT in Blue. Blue usually has not the best Maps in the game. and personally i hate mountains. Bombing in Mesa is a pain in the butt, cause im usually always surronded by mountains. and if theres a Furball its never aginst 2 Bases, it be Either over a Friendly Base or a Enemy base (where your chances of getting valuched by Doom are High!). Try to Even out the Maps, and the Limit of people, cause that another pain in the butt. :noid :noid

For me its usually 370/320 and 35/220. I think arena caps suck I always try to go to the arena with the most players. I figure more players = more fights/bigger/better fights.

It usually only takes a few times of quitting and logging back in to find either the numbers in Orange have dropped or the cap has gone up.

And you feel its ok to hassle until you get into the right arena, and to be dropped out by a disconnect, so you can start all over again ?
Im new here, but im sorry, i really dont understand the logic of these arena caps.
It p*** me off every time im not able just to login and go where my mates are flying.

Not even 2 weeks ago I was getting discoed 4 or 5 times in the space of an hour! It was especially frustrating since I do not get a lot of time to fly during the week.
To be fair to HT it's not their fault there were issues with the carrier used by my ISP. I actually got it in WRITING that my ISP did not employ UDP shaping, and they sent the issue up to their carrier. Fortunately now the issues went away so I could enjoy playing every chance I got during my last week of holidays.
Having said that, the arena caps do suck and I do find it inconvenient to have to log in and out to get into the arena of my choice but I've been around for a while, and I understand why they did it. Doesn't mean I like it all that much though :D

It cannot be because of server load, incase of Orange load at 200-300 and other 100-150.

to prevent everyone from being in one arena. Originally AH was just one arena And from what I heard there were alot of problems caused by it.

didnt see any problems for about 4 years as a single arena. dont see any problems now though and i am a eurotard. there is always 1 person who wants to duel even when the main arena's are totaly dead.

You know the one thing all of you have missed.
There are no caps in EarlyWar or MidWar.
Generally 25- 45 people on, and its always looking for people.
Give it a shot sometime.

IIRC there was a breakdown of social interaction in the MA of old, which led initially too the creation of the EW, MW and LW arenas. Due to the almost instant overpopulation of the single LW arena, they were split into two and the caps were introduced.
This forced people to begin looking at new ways to interact and sometimes if that meant they had to go to a different arena to fly together against a different enemy then so be it. It gave squads the incentive they needed to seek out new objectives and opponents.

This must be one of those things that looks so nice on the level of rhetorics but has nothing to do with the actual gameplay. One arena has always been my preference and I have seen no problems with it. And yes, this has been discussed since the changes came into actuality, but it doesn't mean it wouldn't still get on my nerves...
The bigger the better chaps - you can ask your wives more about the matter! :salute

Ok, so yanks got a huge crowd of people on their primetime... thatīs settled. But what about those arena caps ?
Yesterday evening, around 5pm GMT, Orange arena was around 200 players and blue around 100.
Again the locks hit, and eventually we were forced to move to blue because it was evident that our mates weīre not able to come to orange.
I havenīt found a single good explanation why these "sheepherders" exist.
"Yeah, but the other server would be empty then"
So, what. If people choose to be on the populated server over the empty one, let them. I know for a fact that when it gets crowded, people WILL choose the another server and start filling it.

Maybe it is possible to close an arena only for people, who don`t have already squad members in the "full" arena. Squad splitting imho is not acceptable and to force a squadmembers to leave the full arena to fly together is not very nice, too.

I understand HT has his reasoning behind the multiple arenas, but I still wish it did not force a Cap. If youre going to have 2 arenas open, atleast let there be a choice as to wich one you go in without being forced.

THAT is one of the reasons. In your case it worked. It moved your squad to the arena that "needed" more people and away from the one that "had to many"

well, how would new people find squads they want to fly with? what about those who want to go lone wolf, but have friends they like to fly and chat with? If it is a big issue for your squad, maybe others in your squad would consider flying in the lower populated arena so others could join. I don't think denying people entrance into an arena because they don't have a squad is a very viable option at all. I understand the issue, but both parties should have (and do have) the ability to work around this issue. There is nothing stopping a squad from switching arenas so that all their members can get in, in the same way nothing is stopping an individual from changing arenas. Spots generally open in arenas relatively quickly anyway. Only allowing squad members to join an arena when full, also opens the idea that caps really don't mean much at all. You would be in affect "stealing" players that might otherwise populate the lower numbered arena, monopolizing the caps in the already maxed arena, while making less people to shoot at in another.

Every other game I've played, that has multiple servers, allows queuing.
Why do we not have queue's?... if the arena is full you wait in a line, until there is room; First come first serve.

When I get a cap where I want to be I just exit game..Relog and more often than not after several times its open.Just give that a shot and see how it works.Sometimes you will see 20+ over cap.Then ya may as well go for blue or something else.

I logged on this morning and both orange and blue had 400 as cap...change? There were under 200 in orange and under 100 in blue. *edit: nope, just logged on and it is back the way it was.
