Hello everyone,
For many years Kai Tak was the darling of commercial pilots, the one approach to master or go home crying. It closed in 1998 disappointing pilots and some passengers alike who thoroughly enjoyed the thrill of the 47 degree right turn on the IGS 13 approach just over 300 feet altitude. Well, now its back, in the virtual world.
The team at MileHigh Productions spent 3 years to make, edit, and test the scenery and airport of Kai Tak. After it was released most virtual pilots were stunned with the detail of the terrain, airport, and the region covered by the scenery. Surprisingly, this payware-grade scenery, is freeware! :O

Here are two promotional videos for the freeware scenery add-on:

The only down-side, its for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 only. I think they're making an FSX version, however that’s just me thinking. If you want to download it, here are the parts:
Part 1: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=116777
Part 2: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=116781
Part 3: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=116782
Part 4: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=116783
To upgrade it to version 2.1 (Fixes "blurries" of the terrain and reduces the bright white lights of the airport making it more realistic.) download this:
http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=119570
(NOTE: Only install it after you downloaded and installed version 2.0, listed above as Parts 1 - 4.)
Happy flying!

Very very cool. The scenery looks very comprehensive. Next step: practice landing approaches with 40mph crosswinds :aok

Looks like a lot of work :rock

Yeah, 3 years worth. And they don't want a dime. Very determined group of people.
-
Darn, I'd love to get it but I only have FSX.
-
I dread the day when all the designers flock to FSX. My comp can't handle that. :(

It worked on my system. 512mb RAM and an okayish vid card. Had to lower the settings alot though.

Remember flying in there many times. The new airport is very nice comparitively, but a very boring ride in.
Our company had offices in the Kodak Building on the island. Our bathroom had one of the best views of the old airport!!

Yeah had a few landings always fun to look into apartment windows while on finals. Last time in we blew out a main wheel on the VC10 as we touched down.

All I can say is ...WOW!
(Oops,I cant stop myself.I gotta say more.)
That is some stunning scenery!

You're quite welcome. I only wish I got better frame rates. My Flight Environment drops it down to 1 on final. Always fun to put input to the controls and watch the results come out one second later. :D
