Title: A question of sound...
Post by: OntosMk1 on April 03, 2008, 08:55:04 PM
I am trying to create a sound folder for the Wirbelwind but I've run into a bit of a snag. What would the name of the folder be? The file name for the Osti is "OSTWIND". So what should I label the Wirbelwind Folder?

And, if you want to do the Sdkfz 251, its sd251 IIRC. Those really screwed me up.

Ok engine, track, and engine start up are finished.  :rock Now how do i replace the 20mm cannon sounds. I noticed that the Osti uses 37mm_1. So what should i name the replacment file for the 20mm cannon sound?

20mm_1
20mm_2
20mm_3
20mm_4

If it has more guns than that..... I don't want to get near it!  :O

Ok, well here's the skinny. I have access to a .wav file that was given to me by a friend in Iraq. While in country i asked him if he could record a couple things for me. I wanted the sound of a C-ram going off and i wanted a recording of one of the captured ZSU-23-2 they had on base. So he kindly sent me some recordings and video of both and i have to say the ZSU-23 sound fits nicely to the WirbelWind. But the problem is that in replacing the 20mm_1-4 you make anything that has a 20mm in it use that sound also. I tried creating seperate files and renaming them so that you could keep the specific sound and have it associated to only one model/plane but i couldnt get AH to recognize the "new" file names. Sucks i know...but still fun. If anyone has any ideas on how to create a seperate sound file for a specific model please clue me in :aok

I believe you can use the seperate files inside the vehicle folder you want. They will be named  the same. If it is outside the folder it is default for those without specific sounds inside the folder even though named the same thing. I did this with a few files and seems to work fine. Hope your not as confused reading this as I am writing it.

Here is the link for the info u requested.  Only problem is HTC needs to update the list as the WW, SDK251, p39's, jeep and b25's are not on the list.

BTW, the Default sounds is a file called sound.res in the main Aces High II folder.  No u can't open the file up unless u have a C++ compiler I believe or something like that.  HTC probably also has it locked to.  Was trying to find something to open it to locate sounds used for some Vehicles that I can't seem to figure out what they suppose to be.

k ranger.  What is the reload file for the LVT4.  I have yet to figure it out and no its not reload or reload1.  Another is the Grenade launcher for the Sherman including its reload sound.  BTW, there is a bug with the Hurri IID 40mm cannons.  Only the right 40mm gun plays a gun sound.  Even the default sound does the same.  Alrdy checked and turned it into skuzzy today.  Its suppose to use 37mm_1 for both guns as per skuzzy.
