Title: Widescreen and head position
Post by: Bizman on April 04, 2008, 04:06:43 AM
I recently bought a 24" widescreen with native resolution of 1920*1200. My former 4:3 monitor has one of 1280*1024. Although the new monitor has more vertical pixels, my cockpit panel view has decreased. I already did some research and learned that the game is clipped from top and bottom due to directX limitations in widescreens (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,201274.0.html (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,201274.0.html)).

Now, if I move my head position back in the cockpit, does that affect my aiming? In real life moving back or forth would change the viewing angle through the gunsight, but how is that modeled into this virtual world? Should I raise/lower my virtual head accordingly when moving back/forth? Where would my aiming point and bullets meet? And how to change head position for all planes simultaneously and similarly? Ouch!  :frown:

Your rounds will always fire at the center of your monitor, regardless of your head position as you face forward. You can place your mouse cursor at the center to confirm that as you change positions.

I don't know of any way to "batch" change to special head positions for all planes. You'll have to adjust them one-by-one.
