I wish that HTC would remove the option to .ef while moving in a chute.
I know that I for one enjoy the benefits of returning to a fight faster by hitting .ef then upping again, but I would not mind riding my plane to the ground to hurt the scores of those that abuse bailing out and care oh so much about their scores.
-
Does bailing out affect scores?
As I recall, any end to a flight other than land or ditch counts as a death for score purposes. The fractional scoring that reduces points for ditch/bail/capture/death applies to Perks, doesn't it? Not sure it makes a difference for score at all.
I always thought the bailers were more the landgrabbers trying to get their next sortie in before the whatever they just hit pops back up again.

Nope, type .ef before hitting the ground and you get either "Captured" or "Bailed Successfully." That doesn't register as a "Death."
-
Captured does register as a death, though. Sure of that.
-
Why does it matter?
-
Doesn't matter to me, but scores definitely matter to some people.
And some people who like the fight get very annoyed when they set up a fight, only to have someone bail out before they can be shot. Hence, Raptor's wish.
BTW -- Just checked the help files, and the formula for KPD is "Kills per Death = TotalKills / ((Discos * 0.5) + Bails + Captures + Deaths + 1)".
So bails, captures, and deaths all count equally on the death side of the equation. That doesn't mean everyone knows that, and score chasers may yet bail thinking they are helping their scores. Not sure how often that actually happens, though.

You should be able to cut yourself free from your chute, and freefall to your death if you're in a hurry, but you should not be able to safely exit while floating. I can understand wanting some option for the noobs who open their chutes at 20K and get frustrated, but that option should be death.
-
What... we get scores in this game now??? :huh

:lol Shoot your own chute...

Both are counted as "death" for K/D determination.
Besides that, I'm not quite shure who you are trying to punish - If score is my main objective, I would try to get home at all costs. Each death/capture/ect does hurt score.
Bomb'n'bailers do not play for score and rank.
-
If my plane is damaged and unflyable I always jump out and hit .ef.
My opponent is still awarded the kill. I still record a death. It has virtually no effect on score/rank.
I don't really see where the problem is (except maybe with bomb'n'bail buffs). I just want to get to the tower and try again, not waste my time floating to the earth in a chute (woo-hoo... now THAT's fun!).

I obviously misunderstood the scoring system. Shows how much it means to me :aok
I just wanted to justify bringing back "Chute Shooting" :noid

The Army Air Corps spent thousands of dollars training me, I have a responsibility to try to make it home. :salute
I always bail unless I literally have no time to hit enter three times before I hit the ground. Instead of discouraging realistic behavior, HTC should implement pilot rescues.

Why does the fact that someone does or does not care about score affect your enjoyment of the game so much? Is the only way you can have fun is to know that someone else has been given a little bit of grief? Doesn't that make you a griefer?
Some people need to concentrate more on their own game and quit worrying so much about what other people are doing.

How does a ditch factor into the score then?

A ditch is not a death so it doesn't count against K/D. For the purposes of K/D it's the same as a landing. As far as points go it's something like 3/4 or 1/2 the points scored for a landing (its in the help file but I'm too lazy to look it up for you).
