Title: milk running
Post by: Dastrdly on April 07, 2008, 08:56:19 AM
OK OK i know theres prolly been a few posts on this!

so a person logs into game 1 arena has just filled forcing every1 into next arena to find that a half dozen players have almost concored map. so 2 sides are starting from a huge disadvantage realestate wise.

why are both arenas open when numbers dont warrant it? off hours we end up with 78 players 1 arena 19 in the other, would make better game at these times with all forced to 1 arena.

HT is there no way of locking up 1 arena untill other hits overflow ?

Milk Runners need their fun too   :lol This gives them the chance to fly in LW. They usually hang out in EW.

yes, many people pay their 15 dollars a month to avoid interaction except to gather in a horde over an undefended base for the capture.  remember, this is war and to be taken seriously.  This flight combat sim is about dominating cartoon fields and landgrabs and if you think otherwise, you are obviously a spy.

LOL..... I had a high typh jump me in MW. Two turns and he was running.... 1 whole sector to his base ack. I think some just want to play airport. Seems it would be cheaper in MSFS.

Something similar happened to me.

I see a base flashing I go there to defend.  Up my favorite F4F as this was the Early War arena.

P38 with 6K altitude is flying over the town, I fly towards it.  The P38 runs so I film to find out who the scardy cat was.

The P38 goes out of icon range but comes back a minute later.  Fine, maybe he was low on E and wanted not only alt but E.  I'm looking for a fight and head to him despite being at the following disadvantages:  1) F4F vs P38, 2) lower altitude, 3) lower E because I'm still climbing to him.

He avoids me!  At least until I got frustrated and turned away from him to 'encourage' him to attack.  Then he set up an extremely lame and timid 'attack' from 1.5 out.  Soon as I start to turn he pulls up and extends till he was over 1.5 out again.  Rinse, repeat.  I got bored and landed and quit.

How Ltklutz is ranked 4th in the EW is amazing.

Of course there was the time I found him shooting B-24's that kept 'mysteriously' coming back towards his base that didn't shoot back.  Amazingly also is that when Ltklutz left so did nitro49, the non-violent B-24 pilot.

Wow, his 32 to 1 kill ratio against nitro is quite impressive.  :lol

milk running is now prevalent in all arenas including the AvA.  as skill has flown out the window in favor of game play espoused and encouraged by the megaskwats, killing toolsheds and running to ack is now the norm.

I don't suspect it will get any better any time soon but what I have considered is the possibility of like minded and SKILLED players forming up a loose confederacy that would switch countries as needed and spank the hordes until they tired and logged but I have never gotten around to actually recruiting along those lines.

in any event tbarone N7 republic wildesau tyrant jaeger1 and myself sometimes up and do almost that which I typed often enough but boy wouldn't it be great if some of the really good players teamed up (N7 and Tbarone are in my opinion amongst the best players currently in the game).

HTC must add one more arena named "Milkrunner's paradise", there will be only 1 country "Queens" players can join and 2 AI only countries "Pawns". No stupid furball, no wasted resources, spies etc. Milkrunners will be very happy :aok

I agree late at  night there is no reason to have a LW areana open with less than 20 people in it.

Funny... I had a similar fight in the MA. I was in a G14 with 30mm and a 109 at 15k (above the clouds) was orbiting around me. Anytime I flew level he pointed toward me and closed from 6k to 2.5. The second I made a gentle-as-a-babies-bottom turn (talking 10-15 degrees bank here) he would break off and climb for the moon, turn and run out of icon range. He did this 4-5 times. I was only a few K and had a friendly 190 climbing up with me. He alternated this between both of us. Finally he focused on the 190 so I poured on the WEP climbed out and away and turned back in at HIS alt. I get to him as he's killing my 190A8 pal, and he dives to the deck. I chase. NOW we're almost co-E.

Turns out he's in a 109G2. We actually get into a decent fighty WHEN I FORCE HIM TO!

He COULD fight, but why he didn't is beyond me!

I totally rope him several times. See him spraying away with 20mm several times and he misses me. I get perfect shots 3-4 times but hold my fire because i know 30mm can't hit crap for the angles I had. So I start using superior climb rate to pull him up, up, up, and he stalls out, so I wing over and as he's oh-so-valiantly trying to nose up on me I pop him in a front-quarter 30mm shot.

I send him a PM congratulating him on the nice fight. I then say something else (exact phrasing forgot) about how well he flew that 109. No reply.

So I tune in to ch.200 and there's "flyin finn" b****ing about me being a total hotard arse on ch200 and then says something like "now the a-hole is PMing me!!!"

wtf?  :huh

Some folks don't deserve respect. I don't congratulate folks on fights much. That one was worthy of it, and he's spouting off like a jerk?

That's the last time I congratulate a good fight.

I just can't imagine guys who play for rank that have to put in countless hours to be listed on the top.  Doing this 8 hours a day would make me go nuts.

It is so nice to have a life outside this game. ;)

^^^ some people really do attribute real life value and worth to being able to fly cartoon planes.

It's sad and I pity the fools.

Last month I put in a total of 42 hours and ended up 32nd in LW rank (and I wasn't really even trying).  Under a couple of hours a day doesn't seem obsessive to me.  Better than watching TV most days.

I have read many posts about how a persons play and that same persons character are very much tied into their lives , I now have seen lots of that too.
its a good thing I got a life outside of this cartoon one or I'd go crazy , a couple hours a day is therapy for me , but 10 or 12 hours a day can wear on a guy . And people complaining on 200 is lame , they do not own the world and I may get beat alot in this game but no one OWNS me , nor do they own HTC which if they did it would be different would it not . But on the other hand there are very decent folks on as well and thats why I enjoy playing this game. :devil

Yes! But the hours exponentially grows as you get into the top 10.  Even 2 hours per day (i do some of those too sometimes) everyday is just not healthy.  I use 1 hour to hit the gym now and actually am getting healthier. :aok

OK back on topic..... Lets say they open only one LW arena when the numbers are low. Whats the cut off to open the second arena? How do you even the arenas again, because if you choose 50, 75, or 100 as your cut off, you STILL have to cap that arena and allow the other arena to fill. Of course you are still in the same boat with the second arena not having enough people, plus you'll have all those stuck OUTSIDE the first arena crying about not being able to get in. I'll bet they could set the cap at 400, then when it hits 400 200 people....randomly of course  :devil ... get dumped out of the arena and thrown into the newly opened arena. I'm sure noooooobody would complain about that!  :D

Unfortunately it looks like the way they have it is the lesser of all evils, unless you have another way to handle it?
