American beer..... blergh.

 :rofl

I don't know if you guys have some decent microbreweries over there but everything I've tasted from the USA is a weak-tasting beer immitation.

Having said that, Mexico is FAR worse at than you guys are. Corona is vile. Yet Australians will pay upwards of $60!!! for a case of that Mexican piss-water.

If that's not being duped by a trend then I don't know what is.

I must apologise, I am a beer snob.

I would actually be interested to know if America produces any beer that has a full-bodied flavour. Perhaps a nice wheat beer or a Pilsener? Bud, Miller etc are foul. Australian light beer has more flavour. So does our low-carbohydrate beer.

Fill me in, guys, I'd appreciate any info on premium American beer.

 :salute

Carta Blanca is a very good beer. Very good.

Agree with you about Corona. I`d just as soon drink from a cow track at a feedlot than drink that crap.
Corona here seems to be the Hip/In drink of choice for the Yups here. Of course Yups will do and buy anything if enough advertisement is put behind it.

Bud, Miller etc are foul.

Absolutely. I place them in the same bracket with Corona.

My Wife works for Budweiser. They do very well here in the US, very well indeed. In the US corona is also a Bud import.

Anheuser-Busch.
Anheuser has some pretty good beers.
Budwhizzer isn`t one of them.
Some of the Michelob line isn`t too shabby on occasion.

We've come along ways in the last 20 years. Microbrewery's are popping up all over.  I cannot even drink an American lager (like Bud, Miller) anymore. Weak, and tasteless.  If you ever visit the Seattle area, I'll bring you to a few pubs that  brew their own. They are on par, if not above, brews I've had from Europe.

American beer, for the most part, sucks.

That's why I make my own(see above pics) this one happens to be a wheat.

Actually the malt extract kit was purchased from coopers.  Ever hear of them?  :rofl

My favorite beer of all-time is Steinlager from NZ.   Next would be Victoria Bitter.    Lately, I've been drinking Zywiec (from Poland).   If I'm somewhere and offered a free beer, I'll drink it.   I'll NEVER turn down free beer.

Rip the basic bud, miller... etc are not Lagers!  They are American style Pilsners.

As you get to learn more about the differewnt types of beers each has its good quality!

can you guess what it is?

That its BEER!

Whats the best kind of beer?

Free beer!

Microbrewed beer is the best...it just stands to reason.

As a Canadian...I agree that our beer sucks.........
It sucks the idea of "there are no good beers" right out your brain.

I personally drink A red lager hemp brewed beer called "buzz" (no...it's not from the Drew Carey show). Very smooth, with a little bit of a nutty taste to it. Most refreshing.

Come to Michigan, "The Great Beer State."  (on a side note I believe they should change the official phrase to this instead of "The Great Lake State")
Anyhoo...
Many great Micro-brews in Michigan.  My 2 favorites...Founders Brewery in Grand Rapids and Dark Horse Brewery in Marshall.
I was a Bud Light guy forever until a friend turned me into a beer snob and now I really don't care for the US "Macro-brewery" lack of taste.
If I had to pick a macro it would have to be Pabst Blue Ribbon...flame all you want but it has the most taste of all of them.
...FLAME ON...

Hahah, of course. As a matter of fact, I had a Cooper's Pale Ale tonight. Not bad. Not excellent but not bad.

My favorite beer of all-time is Steinlager from NZ.   Next would be Victoria Bitter.    Lately, I've been drinking Zywiec (from Poland).   If I'm somewhere and offered a free beer, I'll drink it.   I'll NEVER turn down free beer.

Steinlager is......interesting. I like how they describe it as 'herbacious', that got a smirk happening. It is definitely different. Zywiec is a nice beer... very easy to drink. Not the greatest but certainly refreshing. If you like Zywiec try Brok Sambor... another Polish beer that is one of my favourites for hot weather. As a matter of fact, one of the things I enjoy doing in the summer is washing my car in the shade with a couple of frosty bottles of Brok.

I wasn't aware that VB was exported... Can you get it over there or have you been to Australia?

I'm surprised you like it too, if you actually enjoy beer. It's full of artificial rubbish. In Australia it's a 'blue-collar' beer. Low cost, low class, low quality. Beer is taste and taste is entirely relative so to each their own, of course, it's just surprising to see what I would call a 'poor-man's' beer on a 'favourite' list. No disrespect intended, mate.

VB is a quantity over quality thing and we have plenty of quality beers.

Cheers lads <S>
