...Well sometime in the near future hopefully.

Water powered car.

isnt HHO H20?
-
It can't replace oil. It takes so much electricity in the process that you lose energy.
-
Phfffffffffffffffffffffffffff ffffffffttttttttttttttttttttt !
Not likely.

You always lose energy.
-
Its not just about losing or gaining energy, its about the costs involved on both sides of the equation.
If you can produce electricity from say solar or wind cheap enough, then using that electricity for electrolosis of water to produce hydrogen to run cars would work, even though you are losing energy in the process. What you are achieving is transforming energy from a non usable form to a usable form. ie it would not make sense to run a car on wind power, but using wind power to make electricity to split water so a car could burn hydrogen to run would make sense, if, and its a big if, if it is economical to do so.

My vehicles all run just fine on gas.......................but thanks anyway.
-
They'll run fine untill there is no more gas :D

If the gas station closes, I`ll just go to another Angus. No biggie.
-
LOL, sure go to the next gas station. The problem won't be finding gas, but finding gas that you can afford!
In 2005, the price of crude oil passed $70 a barrel (29 August). Just this year (17 March) it peaked at $111.80 a barrel. That's an increase of 60% in 2 years 7 months.
I'm noticing guys in other threads dumping the guzzlers and considering alternative cars/fuels. Not hard to see why. Guess it's not so cool to guzzle gas after all.

We have had this scam ran on us on just about everything from tea to toilet paper.
When the people have taken all they can take it will level.
Old Brownie will be fired up when the urge hits just as always.
Moma`s new roller skate is cheap to run.
The Harley is even cheaper.
Let the good times roll.
-
By near future, i'm thinking maybe the next 20 years. In all honesty i'm not going to stop driving my car, and there's nothing like the sound of a 440 six pack, but hey if they find a cheap way to make real power, i'm all for it. :rock
-
In times past, it has levelled out - demand has reduced.
But this time, even if America & Europe reduce demand, we've now got China/India making heavy demands and keeping the price high. We've never had that before.
I'm not worried either. My car can do 150mph, and yesterday I drove 300 miles in it. Still ended up with 42+ mpg. :D
I feel sorry for the guys stuck with 9mpg vehicles tho. Oh wait, I don't really! :lol
-
? wasnt there a movie about this a long time ago when like some guy tried to make water power stuff but it ended up exploding and taking out a city or something? either way i think that its pretty cool.
-
Ah, jacka1, when people have taken all they can, it will level.....
Yes indeed. You will run your cars on a sail, and use the bike a lot, for the level will leave little gas on a high price....like 100$ for the pint :devil
-
Just not going to happen Angus................but you are free to bite if you wish.
-
You mean you found infinite oil supplies?
In short, if you're well on the dollar side, you can keep your gusslers going forever. :devil
-
You mean you found infinite oil supplies?
Oil is last on the list of things to run out of and wring your hands.
-
So if i hear a rustling of paper, that would be the sound of $50 bills blowing out of jackal's exhaust pipe. :aok
-
Oil is last on the list of things to run out of and wring your hands.
Could you please explain what you mean there?
(And while you're at it, wring your own hands :D)
-
who here would be shocked and feel betrayed if we found an oil reserve that was bigger than any found so far?

Not shocked or betrayed. Surprised, maybe. My reaction to learning that we'd found such a large reserve of oil would be to wake up and switch on the coffee.
:aok

I can recall the 1973 Oil Embargo and being told then that the remaining oil supply was limited and that we would run out. We still haven't run out, yet we still hear that the remaining supply is limited and oddly enough......the time frame for when we will run out has remained essentially the same.
-
True enough, Elfie. But new reserves were discovered since 1973. The high price of post 1973 oil made exploration of new fields cost effective, when it might not have been before.

I've got an excursion... and I ain't dumping it. I didn't buy it because it was "cool." It's useful, it serves (and will continue to serve) it's intended purpose.

Hey, no problem! You're paying for the gas! :D
-
Exactly! If I thought that it WAS a problem, I'd dump it. So, if someone is willing to keep their SUV's, who are y'all to ridicule them for paying for the expensive gas? It ain't like y'all are paying for it.
*rolling my eyes*

but wait till they all start a-moanin and a-hollerin!

Why not skip through all of your delight about it & just make a point.
