I log on and it says version out of date....
When I get to the screen that shows download status it does nothing and all the fields are blank. I can download a new map fine and my connection is fairly good. I have asked this before and Skuzzy said its a firewall issue. Well, I turned them off, not just disabled them, and tried it again with the same result. Last time I had to download the whole game again and it took 6 hours. I lost every bit my saved ingame files and its really frustrating to have to uninstall/reinstall the game. If the same server is used for maps as updates I dont see why it isnt working. Any ideas.... not in the mood to go thru this process again 3 weeks later.
P.S. Can you change the game download to the right version....if I am going to do that process I better start now so I can make the 9 pm race.

If you have Vista, then see this.

There is nothing we can do to fix this. It is how Vista works.
You should have also gotten an error message from the game telling you about this when you tried to run the auto-updater.
If you are not running Vista, then let me know.

Update page as been updated (thanks HTC) so that should solve the short term issues....
So is HTC going to make it a policy to make each update available given the software issues with the ingame update or will we have to make the adjustment to our own computer?

We are always going to make the patches available manually due to the Vista feature of blocking our auto-updater. We have always had the update patch available in the readme for each release which is linked to from the announcement of the patch.
This is not a one time work around. If you have Vista, you have to do this everytime, unless you set the game to permanenetly run as administrator.
I still need to know if you are running Vista.

Oh sorry about that...I do have Vista and did the manual install so everything is up to speed. I will do the other process tomorrow just to be safe for tonights race and it should solve my problems.
Thanks again....HTC customer service at work! :salute

Thank you.
And next patch will be easier, as a new error panel will popup telling you about Vista and what to do when the auto-updater does not run.
You can also set the game to run as admin, permanently.
