Title: P-39 37mm self induced damage bug.
Post by: BaDkaRmA158Th on April 08, 2008, 10:03:46 PM
After leaving the hanger, i do a 180 and come close to the door's.After firing the first 37mm my tail falls off, the second sends me back to tower. What i am woundering is why the tail falls off, but there is no cannon, gear, flap, cowling gun damage at all.
So..why is my tail fallin' off.

P.S. What has the 37mm M4 damage become?

:Edit:Same happens with p39D-1 37mm & 20mm option, it is as if all nose damage is induced into the tail section.
even the 20mm.

Thank you.

The round actually ricochet off of the hangar, glanced off of a passing Tiger, bounced off of the water tower and hit your tail.  You didn't see it?  :salute

This might explain why the P39 is so hard to shoot down... damage bug?

Invulnerable almost everywhere but the tail?

Even worse crusty, damage taken to the cannon, cowling gun aparently kills the tail section.

It is that, or the way aces high treats damage is VERY funky.
Pretend there is a "max" damage area, and "bubble" around that, well aparently that bubble is a "blast" range (or ring rather)
Result. Maby ill make a picture showing what i speak of. :|

Top view: Plane is inside minimal damage "ring/bubble" plane nose is being contacted by max damage blast.
Or something, same thing happens to the 109 milaseconds before towering.
Also note, the nose is still a good 3-4 feet from the door "door/wall represented as a thick grey line"

For some time I have noticed that if you are too close to something (a bomber, or a HO) and you land a cannon round that hits your own nose, you damage your tail. Even offline you can get too close to a bomber in a 109, fire a cannon round, and shoot your own rudder off.

I've known about this one for a long time, but coupled with the very very strong nature of the in-game p-39 I suspect more is at work than the old bug.

I don't think I've seen a p-39 lose a wing yet, or explode. I think I've only seen them lose tails, stabs, or elevators.

They take damage like any other fighter, and they will explode....

WW I've experience gas leaks myself, but I've take some serious hits and given some serious hits that I (and others) felt should have downed the bird. I've personally lost a nose wheel, but other than that just gas tanks or tails.

Have you actually seen an aileron or flap shot off yet? Anybody seen a wing shot off yet? Engine oil? Radiator?

Just curious.

"I've take some serious hits and given some serious hits that I (and others) felt should have downed the bird."

...Any day on CH200, you can hear that all the time, from every a/c and gun set in the game. Last night guys were on prox vox counting how many bursts a Spit XVI took, that it would not go down, that it was bulletproof, how could this be, ect, ect, ect...today it will be something else, tommorow, something else.

I have flown at least 100 sorties in the P-39 so far in the MA, it loses all parts, has fires, PWs, overstresses and loses parts, oil, engine, rad, wings, ect.

*EHEM*

They did not call it the iron dog for nothing people.
IRON, because of its toughness, DOG because of the performance at high alt.

I have never heard someone speak of it as paper.  ;)

:Edit: but i do support the looking at of some aircrafts damage models, or how the damage model itself is done.
it could be the way damage is done by heavy cannon,to be the problem. (blast damage)
