Title: frame rate
Post by: m109a6 on April 10, 2008, 07:16:28 PM
I can’t figure this out. My frame rate is all over the place anywhere between 4-65fps . I have a 3.0gh Intel and a 1G of ram, running a GS 7300 512mb vid card. If anyone can help me out or any ideas that may help here it would be appreciated.

You have a weak video card, and only a gig of ram. What setting are you using n the game? You might want to turn down the texture size to 256, and bump the detail sliders towards less detail. Make sure your antialison is off.

I would invest the $45-50 in another gig of ram.

just upped mine by a gig and a half  to 2 1/2 gig on a Anthlon 3200 + and noticed my frame rates are much more stable running High res texures and range and detail sliders around 3/4

The 7300GS is a seriously slow card. It compares to 5-6 year old products. That most likely is your biggest problem. 1Gb of ram should suffice unless you have literally a ton of unnecessary bloat running on background.

I would invest to a radeon 3850 or similar low budget card - it will cost less than a hundred bucks but multiply your gpu performance.

Yup, that video card is what we call 'le crap' in French.
