i live in EST time zone of US, when FSO starts its at 11 for me. i have read the post about the one of saturdays for the europeans, and signed up, but if that doesnt work i was wonderin if maybe....just maybe.... the time could be one hour earlier so i can at least do one, maybe two frames a month? was just wonderin
-
aye, 11 pm eastern time zone interferes with my prime bar/concert/social time! if it got started an hour or two earlier I'd be a very happy camper
-
This time works fine for me
I wake up at 5:30 to start the frame at 6:00 No problem here.
But, getting up earlier, sheesh... I just had my 3 weeks absent due to daylight savings.
Cheers!

Oh I gotta jump in here! I love FSO, but it is too dern late for me. (EST & my Saturday's start early.) Pushing it forward an hour would make it primetime for all US timezones. I don't think it would throw a monkey wrench into the works.
I hear guys saying 'yeah an hour earlier would be cool' and the 9pm events draw a good crowd.
Let's try it for a tour and see how it works. :pray

Pushing it ahead make the West coast un-playable. I have squadmates who battle Friday night traffic and just make the 8 PM start time PDT. The 11 PM EST/EDT has been a compromise that has worked for a long time. While it is not perfect for all players, it seems to have worked so far.
-
Push it back one hour to 10:00 PM for the love of all things good.
Please don't take this the wrong way "For him", but with the number of players in your squad, someone would be bound to have issues with any time slot. To say "it seems to have worked so far", is craziness when you have people here saying it doesnt work for them.
Try it at least. 7:00PM West coast seems reasonable compared to 11:00 PM east coast. I know you wont change it, but I dare you to prove to me wrong. :D How many CM's in that squad now?
-
On the CM count we're actually down a bit now. :) We had a lot more, but that's beside the point.
Let's play a little what if scenario -- lets say the time for the major event was 7 PM in your local time zone. How many of you would be able to make it -- considering family obligations, work / commute times, etc. While I agree that 11 PM eastern time is not ideal, I personally see 7 pm as a bigger issue. Especially since we're talking about what is a weekend night for the majority of people.
As a CM team we strive hard to factually consider requests. Doesn't matter how it impacts me or my squad personally.
Also note that the current head FSO CM lives in Alaska. The previous one lived on the east coast. They are aware of the issues as they personally have had to deal with them. Again, we try to reach a balance.
And as a squad, we have members in 4 time zones in the US and I believe 2 European timezones. We can't accommodate inner-squad events so we do know what a struggle it is to try to balance an event start time.
Regarding the prove me wrong comment, I can't -- I'm just the geek who works the ahevents.org code. :P

We too have members coast to coast and Europe. It is not easy.
Thank you for the reply.

I don't know why this is being discussed like it might happen, because it is not.
FSO has seen nearly 100% growth in 2 years, that tells me the time slot is just fine.
-
And that's that.
I would look at the player base who has contributed to that growth, before assigning credit to the time slot the event runs in.
Very anticipated reply. TY.

Correct
I would look at the player base who has contributed to that growth, before assigning credit to the time slot the event runs in.
I didn't say the time slot is the reason for the growth, I pointed out that the time slot is not hindering growth.
Very anticipated reply. TY.
Glad I did not disappoint you. :aok

How dare you! You have only been here since Beta. Have trained countless numbers of new players, sacrificing your own game time in the course. Have aggressively promoted SE and FSO in particular, to the point of obbsession. You were the driving force behind one of the only dedicated Axis units entrance into FSO. Have helped said unit grow in FSO commitment level from 4 to 6, to 12 to 16, in just over a year. You have produced some of the best tactical and strategy based orders ever seen in FSO. You are a model member of the community, and my Adjutant,(XO) and friend.
Anymore unreasonable and unquestionably absurd requests from you, and you will find yourself waxing Fw's for a month.

Wow, you are harsh. I was only going to suggest he wax the CM Teams FW's.
