Has anyone else noticed a drop in frame rates since the patch that came out on Tuesday?
I use a lower end laptop, and it's been very noticeable.

I haven't noticed a frame rate drop since the new patch. I have noticed an improvement in ground visual mode frame rate on my machine. I don't use a laptop, however, so not sure if this information is relevant for ya.

I also noticed a FR drop on my computer at home which used to stay at 74 fps and drop to about 70 fps in ground vis. Even after patch 2 it never went below 50. Now since patch 3 frare average 60's and go as low as 40-45 and have become more erratic and fluctuates constantly. Still very payable but I thought the new patch was supposed to makethis problem better.

I also have noticed a drop in fr, mine use to be at 55-60 but since the patch tuesday, it goes as low as 2. And ive shut off pretty much every detail in the game, my comp is as laptop but only 5 months old.

I will try to be online again this weekend, but I fear the worst.
Frame rates while in the cockpit are now about 10.
Going "outside" the bomber is now useless, as the FR's are typically 3 (not exaggerating).
I've turned everything off that I can think of.

You might want to post this in the tech support forum if you haven't already done so.

Same problems here

Posting a Dxdiag report, and a 15 minute run of ping plotter would go a long way in MAYBE sorting out your problems. Your game settings as well.
Just saying "it ain't working" and hope to get help is going to work.

My post was mostly to see if it was just me, not to ask for solutions.
(But that wouldn't mean I'd be closed to suggestions, of course.)
I have all graphics sliders on the minimal settings.
Here's something that I find wierd, but maybe not...
I actually get better frame rates when I set ground visibility to "full" (Shift+F1) instead of the min ground vis setting (Shift+F4).
Intuitively, that seems wrong. The processor should be drawing less "stuff" on the F1 setting, I would think. But it's not that way.

Ok, it appears to be a CPU issue rather than a memory issue. I left the Task Manager running while I opened and ran the game for a few minutes. The CPU usage is all over the map, but definitely pinging the 100% mark and almost always in the upper end of the graph.
That leaves me with only the option of turning off non essential stuff, I guess.
Stupid Vista. I even own a legal version of XP, but all new computers ship with Vista installed.
-
When running the game the CPU usage is SUPPOSE to be 100%. The game takes a lot of CPU to run. Using FSautostart to shut down....even if only temporarily... as many processes as possible will help a lot. Going <HERE> (http://www.blackviper.com/WinVista/servicecfg.htm) is a good place to start to see what you can shut down, or more importantly what you shouldn't shut down.

Beware- this may just be superstitious belief, but it seems to work for me as well as a few others, so I'll pass it along...
Anytime I get a new patch I end up with some stuttering problems. Not so much FR problems, but here's how I fix them. I go to the HTC folder, and delete my "cache" folder. I then go out of the game and do a disk clean-up and defragment (whether it says I need it or not), restart my computer, and restart my game. This seems to fix all of my problems, at least for a month or so. The cache folder rebuilds itself when you start the game again, so don't empty it out, just simply delete it. If I notice FR/stutter problems I repeat the process. I don't need to do it all that often, and it makes things run smoothly for me...

:rofl :rofl :rofl What the heck is a ham fisted hack...

Deleting the cache did seem to make a difference.
It could very well be coincidence, but frame rates were back to "normal" last night.
Spaz... YOU are a ham-fisted hack. Look it up. Wikipedia probably has sumthin' on it.
(But I'll fly box formation and shoo away LA's with you any day, bro..)
