When you log on do you:
-not concern yourself with numbers because you are loyal to your chess piece to the bitter end.
-go to the low numbers team to try and even out the fight.
Once you've ended up in whatever country you fly for do you:
-Look for a mission to join?
-Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them?
-Look for the largest green dar bar and up to join them?
Given the option do you:
-up from a base under attack to try and defend it, even if there are more red then green?
-go to the next base over and get alt to try and drop on the attackers if the base hasn't been lost already?
-Look for a large group of green and join their attack?
Given the choice do you:
-like to blow things up?
-shoot things down?
I know this is simplified, and it's not meant to be a condemnation of how people play. I'm just curious.
Since I'm simple minded, my preferences are
-go to the low numbers team to try and even out the fight.
-Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them
-up from a base under attack to try and defend it
-shoot things down
-
Nothing simple-minded about it!!! DOH!!!
-go to the low numbers team to try and even out the fight.
-Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them
-up from a base under attack to try and defend it
-shoot things down
I will move to the next base back, given the opportunity. It allows for the opportunity to concoct a fresh adult beverage prior to contact. :salute

Ditto.
I also look for blinking bases w/ no darbars to try and spoil GVer's and NOE missunz.

Oh! Oh! Those are a hoot!! Heck, I've been known to bail when there is a chance of peeing in the NOE pool!!! :rock
-
Answer to the first three questions is just "Find a good fight".
Given the choice do you:
-like to blow things up?
-shoot things down?
Shoot things till they blow up or otherwise catastrophicaly fail.
-
When you log on do you:
-not concern yourself with numbers because you are loyal to your chess piece to the bitter end.
-go to the low numbers team to try and even out the fight.
LW: I'm loyal to the coutnry I'm affiliated to (I change this rarely, only every few months), but may switch for short times if I can't find any interesting battles. Usually I don't fight my "own" country then, except for TT/FT
MW&EW: Underpopulated arenas, so I used togo where the low numbers were.
Once you've ended up in whatever country you fly for do you:
-Look for a mission to join? Very rarely, once per tour maybe
-Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them? big red darbars attract me, but it all depends on what I'm up to
-Look for the largest green dar bar and up to join them? almost never, unless both dars are full up
Given the option do you:
-up from a base under attack to try and defend it, even if there are more red then green? If the base is not capped yet, maybe. If capped, either roll GV or come from another base. Exception: CV attacks... Hurri I time :)
-go to the next base over and get alt to try and drop on the attackers if the base hasn't been lost already? Yes
-Look for a large group of green and join their attack? Very, very, very rarely
Given the choice do you:
-like to blow things up?
-shoot things down?
Both. I like to to everything that AH offers me. Bombing, strafing, dogfight, tank battles. Having a choice is great.
But maybe my favourite thing to do is hunting high-alt buffs and busting NOE missions.

Just went solo & started a new squad so I'm going to jump around to fly and meet the bad guys.

Loyal to my chess piece. Have always been Bish except for one night when I got PO'd.
Once you've ended up in whatever country you fly for do you:
-Look for a mission to join? Never
-Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them?
-Look for the largest green dar bar and up to join them?
I look for about even balance, large or small fight. Lacking that I can go either way.
Given the option do you:
-up from a base under attack to try and defend it, even if there are more red then green?
-go to the next base over and get alt to try and drop on the attackers if the base hasn't been lost already?
-Look for a large group of green and join their attack?
I almost always start a base back. Been doing that since AW. Never changed.
Given the choice do you:
-like to blow things up?
-shoot things down?
Both. Like Lusche, I do like to go buff hunting also.

1. My squad flies knights and so I do. I dont really look at the numbers, as eny doesnt effect many Luftwaffe aircraft.
2. I try to find an even darbar. I dont like to get gangbanged & I dont like to gangbang (racing countrymen for kills is not fun IMO). I dont think Ive joined a mission in 6 months. Except FSO, and the occaisonal JG11 HQ raid (these are really fun in the AvA).
3. Come in with altitude. I like to kill vulchers :aok
4. Shoot things down. Especially after a long, exciting, lowspeed dogfight.
-
If no other members of my squad are on - I'll switch to the lowest numbered side - if my squaddies are on, I'm flying with them.
Find a big red bar, fly in, die (generally lol)
Up from a capped base? Oh yes, way too often - buts it just so much fun (generally - until I get frustrated at myself lol...)
I like both, shooting things down, and blowing stuff up (I'm such a child like that)

When you log on do you:
-go to the low numbers team to try and even out the fight.
Once you've ended up in whatever country you fly for do you:
-Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them?
I don't always look for the largest red dar, Specially if there is a large green dar as well. I like finding small fights with out a lot of friendlies around so I tend to look for quarter to half red dar bars with little to no green. I don't really like furballs that much unless Im' in the mood for them.
Given the option do you:
-up from a base under attack to try and defend it, even if there are more red then green?
-go to the next base over and get alt to try and drop on the attackers if the base hasn't been lost already?
I do both.. If it's a raid or I think there is a chance to get in the air, I'll up at the base uder attack. If it's a sustained fight I tend to up at the next closest base.
Given the choice do you:
-shoot things down?
-
I stay rook just because thats where the squad is. No chess loyalty, just dont want side switch timing messing me up.
I fly to where a small red, no green sector is hoping to find a good fight.
I up swarmed bases, fun killin with IL2
I like to both blow things up and shoot things down. Im very destructive.
-
When you log on do you:
-not concern yourself with numbers because you are loyal to your chess piece to the bitter end.
I normally don't change chess pieces. But that's mostly because I am fairly new to AH and like flying with familiar faces. I imagine that once I feel like I know more folks, I'll start hopping to the lower number.
Once you've ended up in whatever country you fly for do you:
-Look for a mission to join?
Sometimes I join missions, but normally I look for a dar bar that is close to even Red/Green. I figure I can find a fight there without getting mauled by overwhelming numbers as soon as I take off.
Given the option do you:
-up from a base under attack to try and defend it, even if there are more red then green?
Usually, I enjoy the low/slow and on the deck fights
Given the choice do you:
-like to blow things up?
Bombing is usually something I do when things are slow. It passes the time, but I'm not very good at it.
-shoot things down?
This is my preference, but I'm really not very good at this either.
-
When I'm with the squad...
Since I'm simple minded, my preferences are
-go to the low numbers team to try and even out the fight.
-Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them
-up from a base under attack to try and defend it
-shoot things down
When I'm by myself...
-Go to low numbers side
-Try to find a small fight by looking for very small dars (like 3v3, or a base with two red dots and no friendlies).
-Defend the base
-Shoot things down if by blowing things up you mean buildings, etc.
donkey
-
-go to the low numbers team to try and even out the fight.
-Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them
-up from a base under attack to try and defend it
-shoot things down
:aok
-
If you really wanted to simplify things you would have numbered the options. I mean come on do you really expect everyone to actually type the whole responce. Not simple at all.
I guess I'll have to cut and paste to make it more simplified.
I have never understood the loyalty to a specific chess piece. I only hope that most show as much loyalty to their RL country.
-go to the low numbers team to try and even out the fight.
Better opportunity for a target rich environment.
-Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them.
Same as above.
-up from a base under attack to try and defend it, even if there are more red then green.
With in reason. I'm not going to up just so some skilless dweeb can vultch me.
-shoot things down.
What else are you going to do in an air combat sim?
-
When you log on do you:
-not concern yourself with numbers because you are loyal to your chess piece to the bitter end.I don't care to look, just fly. It is not a matter of simplified loyalty to a chess piece. Just because not everyone wishes to change sides as you do, should you ask the question in a biased manner? Do you still beat your wife, Sir? See? You are implying anything different from your method is wrong.
Edit: (The way I would have given a direct answer) not concern yourself with numbers? Yes
-go to the low numbers team to try and even out the fight.1 person will not level the field in anyway, being exactly equal in number is not necessary, if they are up by 30, will 1 matter? Some days you fly with a majority, some days with a minority. ?
Once you've ended up in whatever country you fly for do you:
-Look for a mission to join? Not Usually
-Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them? Ocassionally
-Look for the largest green dar bar and up to join them? Not Usually
EDIT: Loiter in an unoccupied radar zone of the map to try and induce a player to up 1 or 2 v 1? Usually
Given the option do you:
-up from a base under attack to try and defend it, even if there are more red then green? Ocassionally
-go to the next base over and get alt to try and drop on the attackers if the base hasn't been lost already? Ocassionally
-Look for a large group of green and join their attack? Ocassionally
Given the choice do you:
-like to blow things up? Yes, please
-shoot things down? Yes, please
I promise I will not hold any of the above that you prefer against you if you don't hold any of mine against me. <Salute> Sir. :salute
-
When you log on do you:
-not concern yourself with numbers because you are loyal to your chess piece to the bitter end.to the bitter end...no. Until they piss me off ...yes but I stay loyal to my team because as a strat player I'd end up undoing what I've prolly spent all week doing
-go to the low numbers team to try and even out the fight.nope as stated above. With or without ENY besides numbers fluctuate almost hourly. The knights used to suffer from number shortages but not now.
Once you've ended up in whatever country you fly for do you:
-Look for a mission to join?no
-Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them?sometimes but sometimes I'll go bomb the heck outta some strat or pork their fields.
-Look for the largest green dar bar and up to join them?sometimes if it's what I perceive as a capture attempt. I may go and "pick" if I'm in the mood for it if it's not.
Given the option do you:
-up from a base under attack to try and defend it, even if there are more red then green?sometimes but if I'm vulched consecutively then I'll give up
-go to the next base over and get alt to try and drop on the attackers if the base hasn't been lost already?Sometimes but sometimes I'll up from another base and go pork the attackers base
-Look for a large group of green and join their attack?Sometimes but if they have a cap I'll go look for incoming baddies to that base
Given the choice do you:
-like to blow things up?yes
-shoot things down?yes
I know this is simplified, and it's not meant to be a condemnation of how people play. I'm just curious.
Since I'm simple minded, my preferences are

There's games within games. Wanna keep it simple...fine be me. Each to their own but variety is the spice of AH life for me.
-
None of the above. I don't play this game, and I have no idea what you people are talking about :salute
-
-Go to whichever country my squaddies are, do whatever they're doing if we've got a good group together.
-Never deliberately make myself vulch/semi-vulch bait, that is just encouraging such behavior. Would rather man the WW of vengeance if planes are actually hanging over the runway. Like to up from behind the lines, get a little alt, and pick the pickers.
-Try to never go to a sector where there is nothing left but mopping up to do. The way I shoot, can't compete with other green guys for kills on limited targets. Prefer to kill, or at least harass, those trying to trespass on our territory than those defending theirs.
-Am barely competent with guns, so I don't bomb anything much, as of yet.
-
I look for a boat to take off from....then look for the best place to get shot down...then take off from the boat and get shot down. HAHA success!
-
Till the Bitter End of WHAT exactly????? That question is just loaded with presupposition.... :rofl
This slop might look good to some on the Forum here. but does it really play out with the good intentions that are presupposed.... I would say very rarely!!!
"I know this is simplified, and it's not meant to be a condemnation of how people play. I'm just curious."
:noid
This is along the lines of an well respected player borowing credability from that respect to banter on 200. This is from in game>>>>>>> Why do you rooks have to fly so high in here? YOu can't ever get a good fight in the Ma any more and on and on and on..... When this respected player just got done ganging ' one rook on the deck in a 202' that had 5 cons on him already..
Enough already!!!
-
Pretty much agree with bald here.
edit: quote didn't come up.
Loyal to Bish.
Prefer to find equal dar bars.
Prefer to not up from a capped field, although I enjoy base defense when I can get up without being vulched.
Prefer to engage from alt advantage when possible. Up from a base back if the furball field is capped.
Prefer to shoot things down, although lately GV hunting has been my preferred method of gameplay.
This is how I have my fun.
-
ooops.

None of the above. I don't play this game, and I have no idea what you people are talking about :salute
best post here. :rofl

-not concern yourself with numbers because you are loyal to your chess piece to the bitter end.
I fly for whichever country my squad is flying for.

When you log on do you:

I'm a die hard Bish, but our squad has been known to go on tour :)
Once you've ended up in whatever country you fly for do you:
-Look for a mission to join? Sometimes, there is some good fun to be had with some of the better mission planners.
-Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them? Usually
-Look for the largest green dar bar and up to join them? Generally not, they've usually got enough help already.
Given the option do you:
-up from a base under attack to try and defend it, even if there are more red then green? This is what I do most, it's what the La7 was made for! *
-go to the next base over and get alt to try and drop on the attackers if the base hasn't been lost already? If it's too capped over then yes
-Look for a large group of green and join their attack? Not usually
Given the choice do you:
-like to blow things up?
-shoot things down?
BOTH!
* Sometimes if the field has a ridiculous cap on it I'll spawn on the end of the runway and land as the swarm starts to descend. :lol
-
* Sometimes if the field has a ridiculous cap on it I'll spawn on the end of the runway and land as the swarm starts to descend. :lol
I do the same thing, and have broken many, many, many a caped fields by suckering them in low, and then getting them to waste ammo, when there's just two or three vulchers left, I up and then the ownage occurs! :t
-
When you log on do you:
-not concern yourself with numbers because you are loyal to your chess piece to the bitter end.
-go to the low numbers team to try and even out the fight.
I've flown tours as both Bishops and rooks, have friends and respected enemys on all 3 sides.
Yet I prefer to fly Knight in most arenas. Easier to find and join up with squad mates, and friends. If Knights have a big numbers advantage I'll probably move or leave. (dislike flying in a horde) If knights are on the low side I'm more likely to stay and help.
Once you've ended up in whatever country you fly for do you:
-Look for a mission to join?
-Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them?
-Look for the largest green dar bar and up to join them?
None of the above.
I do join missions at times, but its not why I log in.
I don't go hunting big bars of either friendly or enemy.
I go hunting smaller balanced fights, look for one of our bases under attack.
Or look for a situation on the map where 1 person can make a difference.
Given the option do you:
-up from a base under attack to try and defend it, even if there are more red then green?
-go to the next base over and get alt to try and drop on the attackers if the base hasn't been lost already?
-Look for a large group of green and join their attack?
Again, none of the above.
If the base I've been flying from comes under attack preferably I'll be
up grabbing alt before it gets there. If its already under attack, well then its time to grab a osty or WW and defend.
Given the choice do you:
-like to blow things up?
-shoot things down?
Both equally, although a good 1 on 1 dogfight is more rewarding that blowing things up.
Its also a LOT harder to find.
Also I find I have to agree with halo.
Guppy I've never had anything but respect for you, but your questions are loaded sir.
Thats cheating, nice if you can get away with it, but not what I would have expected from you.
-
Guppy I've never had anything but respect for you, but your questions are loaded sir.
Thats cheating, nice if you can get away with it, but not what I would have expected from you.
Yeah, Guppy, you are a bad person. You are mean and not thinking of others feelings. You are a big ole bully and are not a nice fellow!
:D
-
My answers with Guppy's loaded sections removed: ;)
- I go to my chess piece automatically and I find my friends and countrymen there.
- I look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them.
- I go to the next base over and get alt to try and drop on the attackers. In some rare occasions I up from a vulched base, if there is a chance to get up alive. However, on those occasions I also choose some dweeby plane which I am not concerned of losing.
- I like to shoot things down... but I also join missions to blow things up.
-
go to the low numbers team to try and even out the fight.
Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them
up from a base under attack to try and defend it
shoot things down
-
I usually:
1.Fly with the Bishops and my squaddies.
2.Kill Knights and Rooks.
3.Head for the biggest "Enemy" Darbar.
4.Squelch squeekers.
5."Kill" or destroy as much as possible in the shortest amount of time AND...
6.Have a good time.
I will rarely change countries to wing with a respected opponant but will never fly against the Bishops!
-
Well here we go...
1)-not concern yourself with numbers because you are loyal to your chess piece to the bitter end.
Not bitter, but the Pigs have always flown Knights going back over eight years.
2)Once you've ended up in whatever country you fly for do you:
-Look for a mission to join?
-Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them?
-Look for the largest green dar bar and up to join them?
Find my squad and go immediately to their location to help out with whatever needs to be done. This usually means finding the Pigs at the largest red dar bar or attacking an enemy base.
3)Given the choice do you:
-like to blow things up?
-shoot things down?
All of the above, not to mention GV'ing, supply runs or troop drops. I try to stay flexible and fill in where needed.
I do not think your questions were loaded, but they certainly show your preferences in AH Guppy.
-
I do not think your questions were loaded, but they certainly show your preferences in AH Guppy.
Nothing loaded about the questions...... it's the answers that will open a few eyes.
The only way you can tell what Dan's preferences are is in the answers, not the questions. The questions are about as easy as it can get. Some will answer them and look back to be a bit surprised.
-
Well, since pretty much everybody ups from whatever base is under attack and goes after the largest big red dar bar, what exactly are we discussing this for Guppy?
Sounds like everybody is looking for the fight, preferably disadvantaged if possible.
What a bunch of studs!
-
pretty much toonces, you hit the nail on the head almost clean.
the only mistake is that we dont want a disadvantaged fight everytime... just that we usualy get one because some people do want to fight from advantage the whole time or there is no fight going to happen.....rather fight from disadvantage every time than no fight at all.
-
When I log on I:
-go to the low numbers team to try and even out the fight.
(Always, but this can change several times per night depending on my ability to locate a large enough RED darbar, without an associated large GREEN darbar. Equal numbers in a sector is ok, but not preferable. Only being able to find friendly-dominated fights will prompt me to change sides to the disadvantaged side of the fight even if it means going to a country that currently has greater overall numbers. It's not at all uncommon for me to switch several times per night). I prefer fights where the red guys outnumber the greens in a 2 or 3 to 1 ratio. Having to share a red guy with another friendly isn't going to work out. I don't usually mind if a few red guys want to share me. Not only am I not interested in "capturing", I almost never even have the slightest idea what the "status of the war is", so spying isn't a factor.
Once I've ended up in whatever country I fly for do I:
-Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them.
Given the option I:
-up from a base under attack to try and defend it, even if there are more red then green.
This is the preferred option (if I'm defending, which is based on where the large red darbar is and not whether it's a defence or offense situation), simply because I don't want to risk missing the fight if the base is captured while I'm flying in from a nearby field- but I won't do it if the base is capped. Having several red guys in sight isn't a problem as long as I can get off the ground and get some speed. I'll be in an F4U regardless of the situation. In actual practice I'd say 25-30% of my hops start this way.
-go to the next base over and get alt to try and drop on the attackers if the base hasn't been lost already. This is option #2, if the situation is bad enough at the given base. And because I fear missing the fight if the base is captured, I generally don't go to the field being defended, but rather set up between that field and the attackers field. This would probably account for another 25-30%.
- The remaining hops I'm not defending at all, but just flying to an area with a large red darbar to mix it up. Honestly, apart from missing the fight I don't care a bit who owns which field. It's the red icons that interest me, not the landscape. 40-50% of my hops.
Given the choice I:
-shoot things down.
That's really the "only" option, besides logging off. Although lately I've found the B25H to be fun as long as there are red guys or GV's to play with. I wouldn't lift one to destroy an object.
MtnMan
-
-go to the side that I see some friends on, normally Rook or Knit, haven't flown bish too much
-Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them
-up from a base close to the one under attack, don't really care about base taking or defending
-shoot things down
But really, depends if i'm alone or, with friends, I tend to do what they want to do, but when i fly alone the above is mostly true
-
Play the way I feel like playing at that time.
If we are being over run....taking bases .....or defending. If sides are about equal......looking for a good fight at 15K.
Porking if need be also. As I say there is no right way or wrong way to play the game. And...don't let anyone tell you how to play.
If you're having fun.....must be the right way to play for you.
I think that puts it simply :)
-
Nothing loaded about the questions...... it's the answers that will open a few eyes.
The only way you can tell what Dan's preferences are is in the answers, not the questions. The questions are about as easy as it can get. Some will answer them and look back to be a bit surprised.
"The Pirates Code" auhhhy matey Your statement is as loaded as Guppys35. The problem is you all won't speak of the deep structure except in secrecy. YOUR statement is as loaded as it gets....
"The answers will open a few eyes" TO WHAT EXACTLY?????? "Some will answer them and look back to be a bit surprised" ABOUT WHAT EXACTLY????????
Why dont you just say what YOu REALLY WANT to say with out all the loaded questions and staments?
How can some be "surprised"??????? How are the anwsers going to open a few eyes?
YOU Sir are an Elitist!!!

Simply put, I fly only for one country and I go wherever I can help. :salute

When you log on do you:
-not concern yourself with numbers because you are loyal to your chess piece to the bitter end.
-go to the low numbers team to try and even out the fight.
Generally, when signing in, switch to the low numbered side. Except when it's before a squad event, since I don't want to be locked in case a squadmate can't switch. All else being equal, I tend to be rook.
Once you've ended up in whatever country you fly for do you:
-Look for a mission to join?
Rarely
-Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them?
Depends. Sometimes I feel like fighting the big fight - and sometimes I'm looking for a smaller more personal fight, so I'll head to the side of the map that's not as contested.
-Look for the largest green dar bar and up to join them?
Almost never, unless it's something stupid like retaking the vbase next to HQ, etc.
Given the option do you:
-up from a base under attack to try and defend it, even if there are more red then green?
At times but usually less so
-go to the next base over and get alt to try and drop on the attackers if the base hasn't been lost already?
At times, depending upon how tired I am and what I feel like flying.
-Look for a large group of green and join their attack?
Nope
Given the choice do you:
-like to blow things up?
-shoot things down?
About equally - as long as I'm in a Corsair.
I know this is simplified, and it's not meant to be a condemnation of how people play. I'm just curious.
Since I'm simple minded, my preferences are
-go to the low numbers team to try and even out the fight.
-Look for the largest red dar bar and up to fight them
-up from a base under attack to try and defend it
-shoot things down
-
When you log on do you:

1)i fly mostly MW, and generally don't change sides....i think that's about to change though, as i can't seem to find good fights otherwise.
2)i like to find a big enemy bardar, and see what happens..it ususallyu ends in my cartoon death, but mostl still fun though.
3)i try upping from the capped base 3 times at most....if i get vulched, or picked trying to get to the enemy, i launch from the next base over and come in co-alt...i feel i can defend better that way...and i can provide a better fight for the baf guys too.
4)my preference is to shoot things down, but sometimes i just wanna relax,...in this case i up buffs from a rear base, and entertain mself reading 200.
