Now, don't quote me, BUT, I believe there is a second seat in this thing. I live in MN, heading to Fargo soon to see this sweet plane!

Come to Oshkosh for the Air Show, you can see these and more :)

Single seat in that one. I think there's another corsair up there that might have the jump seat.

wonder what that first one is worth.. was only 10 of them made according to the text on the site. To think they sold them for $1,500 bucks after the war.. :cry

I bet those f4u's were hell to land on a moving carrier in real life.. The nose is so long on them the front view much has sucked.
-
there are two corsairs with rear seats.
Ride at your own peril.
-
Why is it painted like "flag of rising sun"?
-
I dont know, but any color other than a blue Corsair is a sin.

Great pics...thanks for posting them :salute

When I was a kid in Waukegan, IL, there was a guy who owned one of the "Baa-Baa Black Sheep" Corsairs. When they were filming the show, he rented it out and it was out in California. When the show was cancelled, the plane came back to Waukegan where the owner, a VP of Sears in downtown Chicago, would fly it on weekends.
I could hear it from my room revving up before take off. Wow, was it LOUD! Then he would take off...and come back about an hour later--just as loud! I lived about 1/2 mile south of the airport.
Sadly, he bought a Spitfire and because he wasnt used to the reverse torque on takeoff of British planes, he crashed it on take off and died. His estate sold the corsair.

thats funny i was wondering same thing,
after looking at these i want to up a f4, tonight i think ill learn em!!

Ive had a corsair itch lately. I love taking off from CVs with spare fuel and rockets only and raiding ords to protect my CV. I just love diving the thing at ground targets.

Didnt the Spitfire's torque work the same as American?
