Title: What a comment will do...
Post by: Oogly50 on April 15, 2008, 07:13:11 PM
Wow... just wow...

I do not know the entire story... but, here's what I got so far.

The video depicts several girls beating Victoria over and over again, knocking her unconscious. The girls beat Victoria in retaliation over comments she had made on Myspace about one of the girls and taped the beating, planning to load it on Youtube. As a result, eight teenagers are now charged with third-degree felonies for battery and false imprisonment.

All this because of a comment.

What's really sickening is the fact that they thought it would be funny to post it on youtube.

The real video goes on for about an hour and a half, but I coudlnt find it, so here's all I could get.

They wanted to become international superstars. However 50% of the Internet has already forgotten about them. Give it another 3 weeks and people will ask, "Who are they?"

ohhh I've seen this entire video. I will tell you one thing, this is ****ed up.

After she had taken a serious beating, she tried to leave, they wouldn't let her. And while she was going to a door, the cornered her and beat her again. Man they're lucky if they dont get the crud kicked out of them after this passes over.

This sort of thing happens every week these days.

Hell, I recorded a fight in high school and that was years ago.

Of course, the fight I recorded was pretty piss weak and it was a 1 v 1. No one was seriously injured... Not even a black eye.

Funnily enough (and this goes to show how things change and how different our countries are) I was actually given an award at an end-of-year assembly for 'Best use of technology' by a group of teachers in front of the other students.  :rofl

Like I said, though, no one was injured in the fight and it was a stupid fight over a girl... One of the guys diddlyed the girl, the other took offence at that because he was keen on her etc etc.

It is a different story to cause serious injury with the intent of causing further humiliation. Not to mention the fact that it is the height of stupidity to commit a crime and FILM yourself doing it.

On the positive side, as this sort of behaviour is becoming more and more popular the penalties for such behaivour are becoming more severe. My story is evidence of that... Within 5 years it has gone from being an 'end-of-year joke' to a criminal conviction.

Things like this will always continue to come to light... technology has permeated every facet of our lives and drives its roots deeper with the birth of every new generation.

What's chilling is after it happened one of the attacker's parents stated the girl "deserved" the beatdown she got over the comments she'd posted on her MySpace account. It's too bad that parent doesn't get the beating THEY so richly deserve.
