The recently restored 109G-4 Red 7 was bellied in recently again, about 2 years after her last accident and 2 weeks after flying again.
Saw this on another forum. Sad to see

I hope it was mechanical failure and not pilot error. Crashing aside she looks in pretty good shape. I hope she is still repairable knowing her history.
Any word on cause?

I wonder if stopping the prop like that trashes the engine or just kills it?
-
any news on why?

:(
On another forum it was said that the right gear refused to lock down. Not sure if this info is correct or not, however.

That was the last accident in 2006 I believe. Not sure on this one unless they had a repeat of the last one

thats a shame it look slike a very nice plane, and it is, hopefully the guy was ok, but it might be the landing gear, i dont know for sure but it seems that there lots of stress on them.

sad to see :O

A sad sight indeed....
The 109 was notorious for its landing gear not locking in place.
-
Thats sad to see, yet take heart in the fact it was not an accurate restoration for a WWII 109.
An accurate restoration would involve a shot up burnt out hulk with P-51s flying overhead. :devil

Here's more about it:

AFAIK the accident that happened in July 2005 was caused by a pilot error.

More info in German. This indeed confirms the landing gear problem:

Here's a pic with the plane's right gear hanging out before the belly landing (scroll down):

Bleh..itīs just a 1950īs Buchon that was modified to look like a german 109 G.... :noid

It's really sad to see her down again. Let's hope the guys still have the will to invest money on her.... and be more careful next time! : :frown:

Pilot error. The dolt forgot to press G
Looks like he is on the gray stuff so he prolly got a successful landing.

Looking at the picture this plane uses wooden propeller blades like the Black 6 did when it flew. They are supposed to be easier on the engine in situations like these.
