After Senator Obama's recent poor choice of words, I went to his website and asked if the 2nd amendment was the only "tradition" he had problems with.
Since then I have received emails thanking me for my contribution; emails thanking me for my support for the Democratic Party; emails thanking me for my support for Senator Obama. I even received one inviting me to another state to help with the Senator's campaign there. All of them telling me how much more I could do to help "the cause".
Lesson learned? Do not give a politican your email address.

I have had much the same experience with my democrat representitives here in kaliforinia.. I tell them that I don't agree with their stance on a firearms rights bill or an illegal immigration policy and then they send out a form letter thanking me for my "support" and then tell me their views that are 180 degrees off from mine.
with the half negro guy... It makes sense that as a liberal and a democrat that he doesn't have a clue as to what the second is all about so why would he have a clue as to what you are saying?

Did you know, "obama" has fewer letters than "half negro guy" and is easier to type?
-
well.. I counted and you are correct. even osamabama is easier but...
I think "half negro guy" just says it all. cuts right through the bs.

You're right lazs, it says all it needs to say... about your views.

just as a half white half negro guy calling himself "black" says all I need to know about his views.

there is a proper term for barack obama's racial mixture, he is a mulatto. that is the word used to describe a person who is of mixed caucasian and negroid blood.
I'm curious as to why his racial heritage is a big deal to some of you? Isn't it sufficient to oppose the man for his political stance and his ideology?

It is for me. I look at him and all I see is a thin Ted Kennedy or a more articulate (and politically calculating) Dick Durbin.

I suspect it is to do with the 'black vote' that he earns for playing up his 'blackness'. The more 'black' people think he is, the more black people who would not have voted otherwise go down and vote just to 'get the black man in and stop the inequality'.
I think I see Laz getting at using race to gain an advantage.
By calling him 'half negro' and mocking his labelling as a black man Laz seeks to undermine Obama's playing of the race card for political gain.
I am not following the American election closely but that is exactly what I thought of Obama when I first heard him introduced as 'What could be America's first black president'. I would be very concerned about Obama getting in on account of his ethnicity rather than his political policies and resolve.

You're right lazs, it says all it needs to say... about your views.
That pretty much says it all about your views too. Why not refer to a racist such as obama as he refers to others. I get sick of the one way street types.
My neighbor across the street is a black man. I don't usually think of him in that regard though. I watch his home when he is away and he watches mine, very good Americans. He had an obama sign in his front yard for a couple of months. I noticed about a month ago he removed it. I was talking to him just the other day and asked him about the sign, he said he decided that obama was not as informed as he had thought at frist. He was voting for someone else.
-
he isn't fooling anyone. the black people I know are all centrists and are in as much of a quandry with the choices we have this election as I am.
obama will have the votes that the democrats always have, the extreme left and the people who have made being on the dole a generation spanning traditional form of employment.
the extreme right is out for this presidential election you can expect them to attempt to recapture the legislative branch over the next four years.
those of us middle of the road, salt of the earth folks are left scratching our heads and wondering what is the best choice for the nation and our progeny, be we black, white, hispanic or the those like myself, a little of each.

I don't remember who said it but:
I don't understand racism. Why hate an entire group of people when there are so many good reasons to hate on an individual level?
-Sik

why would you hate someone you don't know? some of you fellows are a bit off kilter.

Why refer to his race at all? Do you ever see anyone posting about the all-white candidate?
-

That's the point. If you hate people as a group, you hate without knowing them. If you hate on an individual level, it's because you got to know the person and found something to hate about them.

who said anything about hate? I didn't invent hate crimes. I didn't invent affirmative action or the welfare state or abortion or cause a 68% illigitimate rate among negros.
I am not the one playing the race card in this election. I am pointing out how silly it is.. It will have no effect tho because. given a chance.. 90% or so of the negros in this country will vote lock step based soley on the color of his skin or.. the fact that he is a democrat.
since he, and his party, are unable to take race out of it... why should I? At least I am being more honest about his race.

Reverand Wright is my hero!!!! Barrack has Been going to Reverand Wrights Church for years along with alot of other Black leaders
it shows what their true intentions are...they hate the white folks and think we owe them something. Black folks in this
Country Don't like me...so I don't like them....They keep racism alive so they can get rich on it!! Sure wish these folks would learn how to
pay their bills and work instead of taking advantage of all our systems to help the needy. I see it every day in my business...the magic
number is three kids...then they can sit on their arses and do nothing and let us support them!!
-
KAW1000 do you think what you typed describes all black people in the US? are black people the only ones who take advantage of the system?

Wow!!! This thread got really ugly....
IN
-
No not all....more like 60%....and I know its not only blacks that take advantage....look at the drop out rate of
African Americans....look at the ratio of Blacks in Jail compared the their population...Look at their leaders..and what they preach..
Look at the welfare system....what majority use it?
Look at all that has been done to help the African American community....and we get sheet on buy their leaders.
Look at their morals.....look at all the fatherless kids......I could go on and on.
-
the problems we see in the black community today are the results of the policies of Lyndon Baines Johnson.
so the answer is once again, blame it on the democrats.

Just 1 stat I will share
White population.....194,000,000
Black population.......34.000,000
Whites in jail......350,000
Blacks in Jail.....300,000
Hummmm

I'm sorry I started this thread. I shared an experence I had, that could have happened to anyone and with any political party and it degenerated into a discussion on race.
White. Black. What difference does it make?
I will most likely not be supporting Senator Obama. I will not be supporting Senator Clinton either. The way I am feeling now I hope the Libertarians run someone I can vote for.
Don't give your email address to any politican unless you like junk mail.

You prejudice against lesbos or something? :)

storch.. I think it odd that you tell kaw that he is basing his ideas of negros on the few he knows when it was you who started it by telling how negros would vote based on a couple of em of one economic strata that you know.
the truth is that.. negro or democrat is enough for 90% of em to vote lock step. It won't matter a whit.. if he gets caught in a room full of hookers naked and smoking crack.. 90% of the negro vote is his.
What I find amusing is the democrats having painted themselves into a corner with a woman and a negro.. if they had a gay guy running too it would be even more amusing.
The democrats have pandered to these groups for decades.. telling them that they were the downtrodden and needed the most "help" now.. they are in the position of trying not to offend either group.. impossible. they are stepping all over their own toes. Whichever group loses will be seen to have been treated unfairly.

Rev. Wright kind of changed all that by making this a race issue.

I think if you structured your comparison around economic lines rather than racial lines, you might see a more interesting comparison. Bankers pulling down 150K a year don't tend to rob 7-11 stores to support their crystal meth habit.
People in economic stress tend to get angry and bitter... they tend to rely on guns and... wait... let me rephrase that...
-
holden.. It may just be a chicken and egg kinda thing... If 68% of your race is illigitimate births.. It might tend to sink you into poverty.. if, besides that fact.. you have a higher birth rate than the successful races in the same society.. that might explain some. In any case... having illegitimate children.... and lots of em... isn't gonna help you pull your race out of poverty.
If you use guns to attack people rather than to defend yourself or others.. that might explain some to the reasons your race is in prison at a high rate.
If, as a race, you see yourself as victims.. that might hamper your ability to succeed.

:aok
And don't forget: If your race* is the one in charge (majority rulers), and a bunch of you get together and use guns to attack people, you get the perk of not having to go to jail! You just call it a war and that solves it.
* Classification based on arbitrarily chosen distinctions that have no clear definition.

Hmm.. in a "war" don't all races of the country participate? In fact.. some have said that the poor are disproportionately represented. In the phoney wars.. like the war on drugs... the good guys use guns to defend themselves and the bad guys use them to commit crime and kill people.

Lazs2, what are your thoughts on the white supremacist movement? Has your opinion changed over the years, and how does it tie in with your thoughts on the Obama campaign? You've made some statements before on the subject, I'd be curious to see how you feel now if you're comfortable answering. If not, please disregard.

Depends on the war I guess, or the country. The "race" of Jews in the German region didn't really participate in WWII. Unless, of course, you count being the victims of genocide as participation.
I find it more interesting, however, that you distinguish between groups of people in your mind. How do you classify these "races" and how are they different? What are the different characteristics?
-
chair.. I am comfortable answering any questions about my views on racism and in talking about my former associates who were white power types. I think that the half negro guy fits the what I would call a racist. He is very clever about it and may not even believe in it entirely but he has no qualms about using racism and guilt (same thing really) if they further his ambitions.
Playing the race card is racism to me.
