Well I have solved the issue of cutting grass with one of these. I have had one of these for 4 years now have not cut my grass since. http://www.automower.us/
-
How does it do on a yard which is not flat?
-
The programming interface:
Select mowing mode:
1. Mowing mode.
2. Mulching mode.
3. Scary mode.
4. Make the neighbor disappear mode.
-
says as long as no more than 35% incline it'll work.

Will the Automower cope with my uneven lawn?
Due to the large driving wheels, the Automower can cope with uneven surfaces very well. Only small deep holes may cause the Automower to get stuck. The Automower is small enough to follow the curvature of a rough lawn. It will not scalp the “hills” like many larger mowers.

Only a lazy self absorbed metrosexual yuppy with too much money and not enough brains would own and use something like that. :D just poking fun!!

I had one of these for 8 years, paid $400 for it brand new. Change the spark plug every other year, clean the air filter every spring, drain the gas and oil every fall, and sharpen the blade once a year. Sucks that the ex has the house and my lawn mower now. I used to enjoy cutting my grass. Nothing like sitting in a chair drinking a cold beer after mowing the yard. That's when you know you've done some honest work.

Another link showing models can't find prices though. http://www.usa.husqvarna.com/products_robotic_mowers.aspx?cid=c61

I find it amazing that no one has put up a picture of sheep grazing yet. :rofl

Hell I can admit I just hate cutting grass.
-
what gets me in the demo of how the mower works is that it just runs around randomly cutting.
There is no way I can see that the mower will not miss a 'line' of tall grass it left behind... I mean, you step out of the house and see your lawn mostly cut but with some strips of grass that poke out above the cut one.. doesnt look good.
-
You have to think in terms of what your grass will look like over the course of a week. If you have bits that have not been cut you increase the amount of run time per day. My grass looks like it never grows compared to the people around me as we have no fences between us, so you can see the length from next door over a period of a week there grass is about 3 inches longer than mine. Also there is a censor that detects longer grass when it finds these areas it will start cutting a grid pattern always getting larger until it detects no more longer grass then it will go back to the random pattern.

Probably works fine on the small yards like in their pics.

Latest version can do just on .75 of a acre. My yard is just under .5 of a acre.

Yes, you can't spell disabled.
-
bahhh when it can handle 2-3 acres and a couple 45 degree angle banks, give me a holler.
Xbrit you :devil that was mean. but funny. :lol

I have one of these:
http://www.friendlyrobotics.com/robomow/rl1000/
It mows my .6 acre lawn for about 3 hours per shot then returns to the docking station under my deck. It pretty much gets everything per session but that does not really matter since he can be scheduled to mow whenever and its all automatic. We named him Sanchez, the underpaid Mexican worker we never had.
-
On a big yard you can get 2 and name them Jose and Jos B
-
Bah, I have a Body corporate that takes care of all that pesky garden maintenance for me :P
-
Screw mowing, just install TuffTurf....Man I love this stuff.
