Open your clipboard and somewhere under preferences or options, turn on auto-takeoff. At least that will get you into the air. Just don't touch any controls until you are airborn.

Welcome to Aces High, Wugz. As many will tell you, this game has a steep steep learning curve. For manual takeoff in most planes, you need to correct your course on the runway with the A key for rudder left, and the D key for rudder right. Once you get to a good speed, usually above 150mph, you can raise your nose.
Don't pull too hard, or you will start to stall. Hit your G key to raise your landing gear, and hit your S key to center your rudder. Practice flying around for awhile, and when you're ready to land, just crash it. When you feel comfortable in your plane, then you can attempt to land it.

Once you do some flying around with your mouse, you'll probably be ready to buy a joystick.
There are a few experienced pilots that are successful with using a mouse, but you'll find the vast majority of us find the experience to be much much better using a joystick.
There is no need to jump in and spend several hundreds of dollars on a complete HOTAS setup though.. just go buy a 'beginner' stick... something in the $20-30 range... and in a few months when you're completely hooked (I've heard this game is second in addiction only to Crack Cocaine)... you'll be ready to start saving up for a nice setup.
