Title: Let's Be Clear .... This is NOT the new Setup Proposed for AvA
Post by: Chilli on April 20, 2008, 05:56:46 AM
I believe that there might be some confusion between the current AvA setup and the proposed upcoming "Non base Capturing" rounds.  I am glad we will have a break from the old rounds.  I do fear that we will loose player involvement if there are no objectives besides looking at a very nice map (excellent choice and setup).

I plan to announce by Wednesday a challenge to join a mission to impact a specific strat such as Refinery, Communication Center, Ammo Factory, etc. or join to stop it.  I hope that others will do more of the same.  I believe the highlight of the last round revolved around JG11's attack on London HQ :salute

As the base capture was turned off, and for good reason, some patience and education might be required to get that ole AvA feeling back (Righteous Brothers playing on the jukebox). :lol

No winner. And for now, I've disabled base capture.  Wasn't adding any value to the old-style setup.

No winner was answering to Flatiron's question on how winner is determined.  Here we could all be winners.

Now here it goes :uhoh(you knew it was coming :D)  Suggestion:  Remove Ranking.  If not possible, to remove or hide it, please start the new round system simultaneously with the monthly resets.  A small way that we can reduce rewarding score whoring.

There is no such thing as score whoring in the AvA. I dont see any AvA players up at 4AM bombing strats trying to get rank up so thats out. No matter what they say there is always an "objective". Say you roll from a field, your objective is to came back with a few kills. You can also make your objective to learn how to fly into a 2v1 and come out the winner. Make your objective to become in a fighter.

It is sad but "true," some players would rather prevent you from taking off, for no other reason than to get a kill.  Next you will say there is no such thing as a Vulcher (maybe I should send you a picture ... plenty of roadkill where I live :D ).

I used to try to fly in the old AvA but I suck in fighter planes so I never stayed long and went back to the M.A.
However  under the the recent "war" set up I was having a blast because I had a goal ,To me it was hit target and make it back to a friendly field and I could fly stukas, 110's and 88's. Having the goal and objectives made all the differance for me.
the team work and tactics made it fun also.

I agree that there was so issues but I think that the AvA team was on the right track to fix them. the over night milk runners were a pain. the massive downtimes where too, I flew supply missions one night for almost two hours and it made no differance at the field nothing came up.

bring back the base captures and  fix the milkrunners :aok

How about you must pick side for the duration, and give axis/allied C.O.'s the right to boot people for cause.

my 2 cents :salute

let's see how the next setup goes there won't be base capture but strats will play important roles so bombing and jabo will be important too ,it should be good  :)

My only issue with base capture is that it causes too many people to be in gv's.  In an arena where 20 people is a good number, we can't afford to have people hiding in the weeds if we're trying to promote historic air combat.
