Title: Mulberry/ Beachead Establishment

As is, CVs are used to get close to and then capture bases. It would be interesting if LTVs could establish a "beachead" on any coastal land (say by landing 40 troops (paratroops could account up to 10) and then a GV carrier ship could build a "Mulberry" on that beachhead---in essence establishing a vehicle hangar there. Now vehicles could spawn and roll from the beachead. Sort of a mobile vehicle base, maybe if it survives distant spawnpoints could spawn as if the beachead were a V-base.

Well if you do that, then you can set up a beachhead on an island that dose not have a base on it.

How would it be destroyed?
Would it have ack/dar/barracks/ord bunkers?

It would be difficult to make a VH pop up at a beachhead. Dont see it happening anytime soon, but i like the idea.

I would think that a beachhead would be tied to the ships that supply it. So, lose the CV group and attendant ships---lose beachead. Might mean you need some new ships. GV carrier, Ammunition ship (functions as beachead ords), etc. Maybe these ships would constitute their own task group--with their own escorts. Maybe even Escort Carriers with a limited # of ord-less, fighter only planes---F4F-4, FM-2, A6m-2---. Good question---not sure how it should be resolved---just tossing ideas.


Oh and the GV ship could spawn Amphious Shermans to swim in with the LTVs.

Some further thoughts.
  (1) GV ship would function as GV hangar it would dock with Mullberry.
  (2) Mullberry could either magically appear once requisite infantry levels are reached, or be a device towed by tugboats in the fleet that need to be beached.
  (3) A Mullberry/ beachead base would spawn for each 10 factors of inf there would be 1 man-able 50 cal position, at 40 factors 2 x 37mm with armor piercing ammo only would add in. Once the GV vehicle ship docks 17 Pounder Anti-Tank positions appear with HE and AP (same gun as on Firefly so no new code. So, and operable Mulb/beach would have 4 50s, 2 x 37mm AT, and 2 x 76 mm AT/ AP. Anti-Aircraft would have to be provided by Wirbels and Osts and whatever ak is on GV carrier.

  (4) There are all sorts of supply possibilities---i.e., resupplying a beachhead by air if fleet goes down but Mulb/ Inf emplacements still up. Re-dock another ship and beachead running again as V base.
