Title: British invisible tank
Post by: trax1 on April 23, 2008, 11:21:50 PM
This story came out late last year but I just found it, apparently the British have developed technology that allows a tank to seem invisible, it use cameras & projectors to put the image of whats behind the tank in front of it, you can read about it here.

I remember seeing a show about how during ww11 they mounted bright lights on the leading edge's of aircraft so they appeared to be invisible form a distance this let the plane get close enough to attack German submarines with out them the Subs would see the aircraft & would dive before the plane could mount an attack. They then took a tank covered it in lights & with a flick of switch from a certain distance the tank appeared then dissapeared.

What is needed is to be able to place small lenses on the ends of optical fibers wiht a visible light amplifier in between that will project the view light thru the fibers to the other side of the object. You must have equal numbers of optical fibers on each side, one input..one output to have a complete coverage. A mesh will be developed if not already
