Title: Need help with mission
Post by: thedudee95 on April 25, 2008, 10:42:59 PM
i need some hep with a huge mission im making.

i put some p51s as escorts for bombers.

when i try to run as a p51(i got routes, segments, spawns, formation all done), it comes out as a bomber, b24, which is the bomber they ar esupposed to escort. the p51 is in the bomber, when i try to turn on engine or shoot, it only happenes on the bomber, not on the plane im supposed to be flying. all other flights work execpt for p51s, fighters..

Can anybody help?

Haven't heard that one yet.

Have you tried putting a different plane in that flight (just for testing purposes)? Trade the P51 for say a P47 or different model P51. It could be a bug. Without further testing though we won't know. Let me know how you make out with that.

Also which P51 are you using?

I've had this problem before.

This was when we were still using notepad to make the missions (), and I was trying to do a Battle of Britain one.  I got this with Hurricanes and Spitfires.  However, I never worked out what was wrong.

Also, when I tried to use the ailerons, they went all retarded, and once they wound up bending and hitting the ground:  :O  :huh

EDIT:  dkff49, I tried substituting a P-51 into the mission I'd made to see if it still had the problems, and got it again.

Yea i have traded it for another plane, the p40e, i was using the p51d, same thing happens.

ANd i am using bob4, so the map may be a bug in it.

Ok, I suggest that you remake all your flights if that's not too difficult.  Tell me what happens please.  Also, have you tried running this in the mission editor?

I redid the mission with different planes in a dif map, same thing happens. Run it on editor, works fine...

I think this is a bug.

Yea, it sounds like it.  If you want, post the mission here (or a link to it) and I'll try to take a look at it and see if I can work out what's wrong/why it's doing this.

I could not get it to open in the ME. ME froze and shut down with error message

I think there may be some kind of bug here. Try to re-save it under another file name and see if it saves as a mis file. I cannot get it to open in the ME. I have not seen any other mission files saved as RAR files other than yours.

No, just open the .RAR file (you need WinRAR to do this, it's free), http://www.rarlab.com/rar/ (http://www.rarlab.com/rar/) - I think that you want "WinRAR 3.71", but I'm not sure.

Once you have this, just open up the file, extract the .mis thing from inside it, and put that in your offmis folder.

Also, what map is this supposed to be run on?  I just opened it with ndisles in the ME, and none of the waypoints etc were aligned with the bases/runways.

Ok I think I know what the problem is:  you have your planes assigned to the wrong countries.  I'm not sure about this, but I do think it's at least part of the problem.  Try switching the country assignments of your P-40s and B-17s with the country of the Luftwaffe aircraft, and it should be OK.

However, don't forget that this means you'll have to either change the bases these planes take off from, so they don't get killed by auto ack as soon as they take off.  However, if you want to keep the bases as they are, then I think you need to go into Aces High, and change which countries own which bases - but I think you need to do something within the editor after that to save these settings to a file, that you then distribute with your mission.

You might want to talk to sudz, or first look at the tutorial/help file if you have any problems with this.

you can actually change the country in mission properties. I did this and it did not fix the problem. It did stop the auto ack from firing at me but there is still a big b17 on top of my p40. It is funny to see my p40 surrounded by a b17. I think this is a bug which may have been brought out by the size of the mission.

On a side note though.

When you think you have the mission complete. There is one last thing you should do. Right click on the route and click on select bad turns. This will show all the turns that are too sharp. One key to remember when you lay down waypoints is to never make any turns harder than 90 degrees.

Again I am not sure if this will fix your problem, but I would definitely fix this. It may even help with the problem you have here though.

Also when you are done fixing the country and waypoints if it still does not work you can try PM Sudz with the corrected file and see if this is a bug. That is all I can think of though

Sorry couldn't help more

another question for you dudee.

When you created the mission did you let the computer create the takeoff and landing segments or did you do them yourself?

Just in case you can have the ME create these tasks by simply right clicking on the waypoint in the tree that you wish these to happen and then select takeoff or landing which ever applies.
