well, i like the new carrier design, it looks nice. however, who came up with the screwy idea of the elevator being in the deck :huh? i was trying to fly larger aircraft off the cv offline, so i have not even tried to land yet, which i can do upside down sleeping. however, when i tried to take off, THE D-MN ELEVATOR GOT IN THE WAY!!! of course, no when i take off, i have to reverse all the way back, and on all bombers, i now have to use full aileron left to clear it, and i can no longer take off lancs, so i can imagine it must be hard for the noobs who try to land carrier-base aircraft and nose into the elevator and break off the wing and slide any kills they got into the drink. who designed the cv? i would love to see that elevator gone.
-
bg108 I can take any aircraft off a CV (with exception of 163) even the large bombers. What "large plane" were you trying to get off?
-
I may be wrong but I think they were going for realism....taking lancs off the CV was prob not one of the concerns they had when rendering the new CV.
... I think the whole new fleet looks great Keep the upgrades coming! :aok

Quoted for truth
-
So, basically, the new fleet sucks because its hard to launch heavy bombers offline?
-
Ture. I not saying its never happend but I've never seen a Lanc come off a CV in clips or pics have you?
-
In all fairness. Would the aircraft elevator really be lowered (as it currently is) if aircraft were taking off?
-
No....
Strip
-
I want to know who came up with the screwie idea to model allowable landings of heavy bombers onto CVs in the first place. Or for that matter any airplane that couldnt do it in reality? Why is it allowed in the game?
-
I want to know who came up with the screwy idea that if you get shot down and die you can reup with a new plane and aren't really dead.

I`m not sure, but it`s one of my favorite features of the game. ;)

Only off-line rich... B-25c is the only buff (actuall a light bomber in the RW) that will launch from a Cv in the current incarnation of AH2... to my knowledge!

maybe you haven't launched off the cv in a 24 or lanc lately. to launch, i now have to reverse to the back of the ship, full flaps and engines, and FLOAT THE WHEEL OVER THE ELEVATOR SHAFT!!! :O!!! then, of course, the whole plane slows down, and it stalls off the pad. if you dont do this right, you lose a wing on the conning tower, lose a wing in the shaft of the elevator, just trust me, it's a pain.
-
163 can takeoff too.........

Take off at an airfield then bg108. Carriers are great HTC! :aok Nothing to fix here.

I believe the real Essex class had elevators in the flightdeck, not off the side..so count yourself lucky :D
oops, I was half right..some on the side and some in the deck...

That's like complaining masturbation is no longer fun after you started dating a porn star! :rock

To Bq(@^,
Keep your bombers off my carrier. That is all.

I LOVE the new carriers and their design. What I would like to see, is a carrier that is affected by the ocean. Make the CV something a land lover lose his cookies over :D Oh, yes… a LSO too :)
-
Not to be mean but a few "Battle 360"said that,"you landed on the front to put in the hanger decks and be repaired and brought up in the back.
-
Okay, so what is holding up this plane? :huh

It's lag.
The pilot's FE shows him on the carrier.

no, you try sinking a cv with one of your puny, pathetic tbm's. 1 bombload on a cv distracted by a wasp nest of smaller planes is going to sink the cv.

Its fun flying a B5N into the hangar deck

For the record...the TBM carries a 2000lb max bomb load. It takes (myth) 12K to kill a CV.

Here's yet another shining example for the need of an auto-lock of stale threads.

somebody ping that dork already :furious

14k's in a lanc. so in 1 aircraft, i can, effectively, place down as much ordinance as 7 of your tbms. no 6-flight squadrons, and lancs carry a pair of 50's in the rear, and 30's in the front and top.
and what's a ping?

and I suppose you can hit a cv from 15k everytime too..... oh wait, your one of those dive bombing lancs right?

you must be one of those uber pile-its. you can steer your plane with aielron while it's on the deck?
and just an FYI? there is absolutley no problem flying aircraft off the carriers.
oo...and for landing, there's this funny lil thing called an arrestor hook. use it. no problems landing either.
and finally......nice bait....ya caught quite a few....... :rofl

full flaps in any of our aircraft will create much more drag, than they will lift. when you spawn, you're already at the back of the carrier.

unfortunately, no. you spawn about 5' foreward of the arrestor cables. and the flaps arent much of an option. i tried without flaps. ailerons dont put out enough lift without em

dude....do you know how an airplane flys?
your ailerons don't produce lift. your flaps do, for about the first 20 degrees. after 20 degrees, they produce more drag.
