Had a great time last night in the AVA. Oldman and flatiron and all the rest. the 353's were in there too. it was great sport. Minus some unprofessional behavior by one or 2 unmentioned parties it was a really good time. we had several great Furballs, and some really good pilot stuff going on.
the AVA is slowly becoming what it should be, a class act. everyone is behaving acording to professional standards. and most everyone is abiding by unwritten rules of conduct and engagement.
its a better place in my opinion. thanks to everyone that was there last night. Lets keep the behavior at the level that it is. hope to see you again!! :)

Although this game is by no means a profession ... I'm glad you enjoyed yourself and I'm glad it met your expectations. And, if you'd noticed, I've always said players can take charge of their own behavior without it being forced upon them via a seperate set of rules for this arena that applies nowhere else in the game. I just take it one step further and have no expectations of my opponent other than they doing any and everything in their power to beat me, whether I hold myself to a "gunfighter's code" or not. I may even anticipate it ... expect it. I've even given up on attempting to convince players that whining isn't very inspirational.
Funny how things just sometimes work out without all the extra effort some would rush into. :salute

Ohhhh, thats funny Arlo. Maybe, just maybe, things were good because the old faces and old AvA was back? I know for a fact the moment the two zipcoads showed up, the name calling and no fighting begun again. I think if we leave the AvA as is, it will continue to be like this (when the old faces are there).
Bring the war back, and the zipcoads name calling and 0 fights will be back also.
-
No war and this place will be the echo it was in a months time. :rofl

You mean before you guys come to AH? Back when 10-15 people could have great fights without having to deal with people that just want to bomb sheds?

And maybe ... just maybe ... next week ... two weeks from now ... next month ... arena left as is or not ... someone won't get vulched ... or ganged ... or faceshot (or perceived so) ... and maybe they won't complain in public how bad things have suddenly turned and how much that dastardly player (or players) is/are at fault. That, of course, will be a first. A record, if you will. Funny or not. ;)

One can only hope. Just like everything else, quantity does not mean quality.
FYI, it did not look very empty to me over the weekend
-
Then you really have no complaints and no reason to express any angst now. Right? Carry on. :salute :D

I have no idea what your point is. There was some vulching, some face shooting, and some ganging. The difference is that it was not the norm. The norm was good fights. If someone posted something about it, would it change anything for me or anyone else?
What does someone whining as you call it have to do with the AvA being fun?
-
We had a good time in there last night, but there was a lot of channel 200 whining going on about vulching. While I was not participating in the vulching, I did see it taking place on both sides.
I will agree it doesn't take a lot of skill for a person to vulch, but I really don't understand how anyone would up at a known capped field then cry about it when they get vulched. I was dodging 190's vulching our field all evening and I even got taken out a time or two by them. Not once did it occur to me to cry about it on the radio, because I was the idiot that rolled knowing they were there.
I also have to mention there was a good episode of dogfights on last night; the night fighters. They sure had a lot of vulching and HO's going on in WWII from the looks of it guys. All I'm saying is it's a part of combat aviation, so deal with it however you see fit, but don't blame the vulcher when you knowingly take off into a fight. HO's fall into the same catagory, avoid them and it can't happen to you. I fell victem to an HO or two last night as well and all I thought each time I should of rolled out of it sooner; my fault.
Tonight is one of our squad nights and we will be in the arena in force to be the punching bag for the axis again. <S>

I have no idea what your point is.
And you probably never will. Jaeger started out well in his post, talking about how fun it all was and how nice it all was and then it slipped into:
"the AVA is slowly becoming what it should be, a class act. everyone is behaving acording to professional standards. and most everyone is abiding by unwritten rules of conduct and engagement."
Which, I hate to remind all, is a bs illusion of the most deluded degree. It had nothing to do with everyone abiding by anything other than what they felt like doing, at the time. Anyone who believes otherwise is just setting themselves up to whine and moan a month from now (or less). I never could understand why players of this game convince themselves that it's anything but what it is, by design, and therefore drive themselves to misery and attempt to take others with them. Which is why I'm glad some seem to feel there's a respite from it - real or imagined - permanent or not. Perhaps there may even be a whole day without some inane complaint over something really not worth complaining about.
I'm as happy as the other clams over this. :D
-
We better hurry and make another thread telling people not to put CVs near shore. You know because thats what arlo wants.
-
Advice, monsieur. Advice. Eloquently worded and tastefully offered. Not anything like riding the "Look at me I'm a spy! Look at me I'm a spy!" hurt feelings dead horse around for all to see for a month. :D
-
lol I was never riding the whole spy thing. I was pretty much laughing at all the idiots who were following the king idiot hunglo.
-
I will agree it doesn't take a lot of skill for a person to vulch, but I really don't understand how anyone would up at a known capped field then cry about it when they get vulched.
For this reason: The vulch keeps you from getting to a real fight. Your alternative is to up from a base further away, so that you waste time getting back to the fight.
In a base capture situation, when goons are on the way in, even I can understand why people vulch. But in this week's setup there is no real likelihood that any base will be captured, much less that goons will be on the way in. Vulching in those circumstances is done only to spoil someone's fun, or to obtain a non-challenging kill. Neither of these goals is viewed with much respect by many of the AvA players. Hence the complaints.

-
hey arlo, when was the last time you were in the AVA?
-
almost positive someone let me live as I was trying to land my damaged la5 last night. I mean they had dead all the way. thanks .
-
I will agree it doesn't take a lot of skill for a person to vulch, but I really don't understand how anyone would up at a known capped field then cry about it when they get vulched.
But you do understand why you would cap a field you have no intention of taking?
-
It was a great time in that furball. Good fights and numbers. N72 took me out three time and land 12 kills. He is a dam good stick. :salute Little HO, got vulch once. Other then that, it was fun.
-
But you do understand why you would cap a field you have no intention of taking?
Sure I do, to control the location of the fight and keep the vulchers away from your favorite airfield.
-
almost positive someone let me live as I was trying to land my damaged la5 last night. I mean they had dead all the way. thanks .
that was probably me flatiron, i was flying back and forth over the runway, you were smoking, i didnt see any sense is wasting you, i had an unfair advantage. i must say i thought about it though hehehehe. i was actually trying to see how many of you guys i could get to chase me at once. it was pretty funny from my point of view.
-

the incident in question involved a IL-2 and me and oldman. he vulched Oldman 2 times. i went after him. he wasnt trying to cap the base, he was just being greedy. guess no one told him there are no points in AVA.
-
Jeager I know who it was and why he does it. He's one of my pilots and he's onery as an old goat, my advice is to avoid him or make things rough on him. Like I said, before, it doesn't take any skill to vulch, but on the other hand it only takes a second to check the dar before you roll to make sure it's safe to roll.
I'm not trying to make this a "who can pee the farthest" matter, but it's a simple fact, people are going to HO and Vulch, if not my guy then somebody else. You guys are good sticks in here, do what you need to do to survive. You won't see me crying that you picking on my pilot if you squeeze him a little. We try to keep a fighter or two over our field while we land or take off to keep things a little safer for those at a disadvantage. <S>
-
So it wasnt you and your guys crying that time I was vulching with my tiger?
-
hey arlo, when was the last time you were in the AVA?
Last night. Couple of sorties. And this means whining isn't a bad habit for some how? :D
-
So it wasnt you and your guys crying that time I was vulching with my tiger?
I can't speak for my guys TK, but it sure wasn't me. <S>

Please enlighten us. Why does he do it? The if not him then some one else is BS, since he was the only one doing it. Same goes for your controlling the location of the fight. Total BS. If you are not trying to capture the base and there is no war going on, why vulch? Who knows, if you come up with a good reason people will stop whining about it and view you and your squad differently?
-
LOL dedalos, I already said why he does it and he surely wasn't the only one doing it. We were dodging vulching 190's all evening and you don't see us crying about it. I'm only here to fly with my buddy's and have a good time, so believe me when I say I could care less about what you think.
You are making a mountain out of a mole hill about a few guys vulching, grow up and get over it. They, the allied and axis pilots that were vulching, are adults and pay for their own accounts; it's none of mine or your business how they choose to fly. I'd rather deal with the HO's and Vulchers than listen to all the juvenile taunts and whining that takes place on channel 200. :salute
-
I flew my first sorties yesterday in AvA for the Allies and these were my observations. Saw Arlo, among other Allies, get vulched and heard an Axis vet complain about a vulch after he had disengaged from a fight to head back to his field and try to land for whatever reason. Saw an Axis plane vulched. Almost all fights I had were in or near Axis flak or two/three on one (not saying all Axis ganging), though the last three on two was fun. Axis flak on end of Allied runway trying to vulch. Axis Panzer running around Allied base. Every merge began with glowing dots coming at my windscreen.
Seemed like the MA to me, perhaps a tad worse if possible (given the short time frame). Enjoyable arena though. Sounds like both parties would like these actions to stop. The only way to control this is by peer pressure. If vulchers and HOers are chastised by friends and foe alike they will probably relent or move on. If these actions are wanted, just let it continue, no big deal either way.
Just my observation of only one visit to AvA. I am sure over time things look different. Had fun, I'll be back to provide the Axis more kills. :D
:salute

Then why not detune 200 and stop whining about all the whining beeing done on 200?

Watch out with that kind of talk youll get arlo in here.
-
Agreed, I've never read a bad thing (or good thing) written about me on channel 200. I also have never tuned to it.
Lots of fun last night. For the most part the 353rd waited sw of the most active base and waited for fights to come to us. It seemed to keep the furball active except for breaking off to intercept the occasional Axis C47 sortie.
-
Watch out with that kind of talk youll get arlo in here.
I'm already in here. There's a schism regarding "peer pressured behavior to modify what the other guy does to me in the game" thang, already. Not just me, meester. ;)

You better hurry and shoot his idea down because you dont agree on telling people how to spend thier money, then go make a thread telling people how you want them to spend thier money.

There, this without a doubt a dead horse.

Well don't let your obvious confusion be a reason to not feel cornered and threatened. ;)
-

Really? I don't remember starting the vulch talk. All I remember is someone posting BS excuses for it. If bother to read back you will see that my initial response to vulching was "so what". However, BS smells to bad to just let it go. Do what ever you like and have fun any way you like. No one cares. Just don't fill up the BBS with BS excuses and expect no responses.
-
just curious, what age group I'm reading? 3rd-8th grade??

Well don't let your obvious confusion be a reason to not feel cornered and threatened. ;)
Theatened? By who? You may want to go read a few threads back since it looks like you are the one confused.

I had a great time last night. 200 banter was up to snuff, there were some good fights and who cares about the vultches HO's running whatever.
I want to take this opportunity to send a sharp <<<S>>> to twilly. that boy is starting to figure it out.
maybe I'll see you'ns up again tonight.

If they don't reset the server it will be a more interesting night. 75% of the planes on the allied side are active and can be selected. there's another thread on it and I just confirmed it.

PETA stands for People Eating Tasty Animals. However I don't think a horse is very tasty. :lol

However I don't think a horse is very tasty. :lol
Wrap a little bacon around it and put it on the grill, it taste just like chicken.
-
absolutely right, bacon does wonders!
-
I just checked again. The poster in the other thread was right. The Allied side can also select amost all of the Axis rides, including the 262.
-
Why!?! :cry
-
Theatened? By who? You may want to go read a few threads back since it looks like you are the one confused.
Then what's the problem you have here, honey? Nothing? Good. Me either. Just commented that "AvA Nirvana" may be fleeting and the character some claim to have centers more around their propensity for whining than anything else. Seems the peace ended up being counted in hours ... not even days. Good show! :D
-
Why!?! :cry
Probably because the announcement of the Russian Campaign this week the Ruskies as Bishops. I think it's supposed to be Rooks.

Had some good fights last night. Enjoy the arena in its current form. Arlo, Hoping to run into you in the actual arena. Do you ever go in there? Would enjoy the fight.

Arlo, Hoping to run into you in the actual arena. Do you ever go in there? Would enjoy the fight.
He does, under the cpid eDgarAP I think.
-
*ShruG* I don't even know who you are much less what that is. Go figure. But then, I'm not as random as some. :D

Arlo, Hoping to run into you in the actual arena. Do you ever go in there? Would enjoy the fight.
You've seen me, Tyrant. It really wasn't that hard to figure out .... well for anyone who could put 2 and 2 togther.

I feel the same way when you post as well.

pretty easy to figure both out, he is the player who owns you and anybody you play with while he's dozing. with regard to his suggested cpid for you perhaps he feels (and I agree) that you are a failed write of prose.
