My favorite Japanese Sci-Fi movies from the early 60's were "The Mysterians"

Earth's final assault on the Mysterian base that they have established in Japan ( naturally ) is quite a miniatures battle to behold.   The gigantic ray gun tanks that are parachuted down to assault the complex are especially impressive.

In no other movie can you find a supersonic flying submarine that can also drill straight through the earth.  It gets to battle flying saucers, other submarines from the Mu Empire, and even gigantic sea monsters.


These are both fantastic Japanese videos to rent, if you ever get the chance.

I don't know what I would have done back then, if I had not of had these awesome Japanese movies to see at Saturday matinées as a kid.
