I was even starting to become productive again! Glad it's back!!! :aok

"The internet went down for three hours this morning, plunging the nation into productivity. The outage which caused major work startages from New York to California, prevented an estimated 120 million American employees from messing around on the web at work."

Wow! They really screwed up. Seems like a lot has been lost; I really hope HTC are able to recover some of it. If I had allowed one of our servers to get damaged like this and be out of operation for a week I would probably have to look for another job.
-
I do not need your crap Lumpy. You have no idea what happened.
What could be recovered has been recovered. As to eactly what happened. it was a fluke involving an electrician installing another UPS system. An accident that was completely unavoidable.

Nothin like being super critical for something you don't pay for. But you're probably a know-it-all kinda guy right?
-
And we're off with a bang (PNG). What a way to restart the bbs. ;)

I missed the O'club!

Translation, "Skuzzy, would you please kick me off the BB?"
:lol
We can't all be as perfect and mistake free as you Lumpy.
-
Lesson learned here: Making a smartarse remark about about someone who is working on a weekend is always bad. On Sunday it may incur the wrath of the almighty.

See Rule #6

On a lighter note:
Thanks for putting in the work to get the BBS back up and running.
I cried a little each time I couldn't log in. :cry

Thanks for the weekend work Skuzzy. :salute

The wife said to say thank you for getting the boards back up.
"if you think he's a PIA here imagine what its like to live with him"
I thank you too.
Now I can stop spending money on landscaping and ignore her in inexpencive peace LOL

WTG Skuzzy! You have definitely earned a garlic and pepperoni pizza.
(and I thought I was the only one that worked on Sunday) :salute
-
heyyyy...don't forget the sausage!!!

Viking is now PNG...
Was it worth it Viking?
:rofl
-
It takes a certain special someone to get PNG'd twice under 2 different names in the same thread.
-
ZOMG Skuzzy you da man!!!
Honest we tried to get you a pizza but they wouldn't accept a mastercard from an Australian phone order :lol

Skuzzy, it's ALWAYS the electrician's fault.
We rebuilt here after a fire about 2 years ago. Before that, I had CAT-5 running haphazardly around the place in a very ugly and ghetto fashion, but it worked. The boss wanted me to design the layout for the network in the new building once it was time (awesome time for some CAT-6). I did what he asked, but then he insisted that the electricians do all the wiring (as they were pulling all the electrical stuff anyhow). That was fine with me, as I had my hands full trying to recover data from smoked (literally filled with smoke from the fire) HDD's.
When it was time to move in, I brought all the new computers in to the building and hooked them up. NO-GO!
All the wires were in the right places and all landed in a central data "closet" like I had asked. Problem was that ALL data ports in EVERY room had the punch-downs installed in exact REVERSE order than in the data closet. Even worse, he had hardly left any slack to play with.
So... never trust the electrician. :lol
(It's either their fault, or, when in doubt blame COMCAST)
-
Hey!@ I resemble that remark!!!
Back in the late 80's I crawled through the ceilings of the NORQEB head office in Townsville running cables and soldering 100's of RS232 connections for their network when I was doing my electrical engineering degree.
Why wasn't CAT5 around wheN I needed it?
-
Could be worse. ThePlanet here in Houston had an electrical explosion over the weekend. It blew out the walls of the power room and took down 9000 servers run by 7500 customers, including mine.
I kinda feel bad for their techs. Most people know within minutes when one of their boxes is down. Now when the box is down and support isn't answering because there's no power to... anything... you get a lot of very angry people.
-
I swear, I was suffering from withdrawal symptoms while the boards were down.
Good work Skuzzy! My hands have stopped shaking and the tic is almost gone! ;)
-
How long did it take for the hand shaking to go away?
-
They started to come back under control about two minutes after I logged into the boards.
Ahhhhhhhh.......
-
That's not shakin' you're doin' there son! :O
-
Thanks for all the hard work you guys did getting the boards back up. You guys rock. :rock
The withdrawals were not pretty.
-
Skuzzy,
Thanks very VERY much for bringing it back. I don't have a job so I didn't have menial work to go back to...... :D That made the loss of the board very intense. :(
As for those who decided to step on Skuzzy's last remaining nerve and pitch a fit, toodleoo we won't miss ya.
:devil
-
That's right ... You won't ;)
-
Guess who is back.
-
I think that's was back. Ya know I still don't miss him.
:rofl
-
Ok, we're at 4 now. And I have no idea who that was. Clue?

Lumpy=GScholz=Viking=uvwpvW ?
Wow...that's a lot of shades!

I don't think lumpy was GS, I do remember "Madman" (write down uvwpvW and look at it upside down) but don't know who that was either.

Almost as many as beetle had.

Now who else has a new awning over their deck and all the carpets got cleaned ???
Or am I the only Sucker to get the advanced Roo Doo list while the bbs was down ... :uhoh
-
Yup. (in reply to Bronk's post)

Your right, that is Special!
:lol
Maybe I'm special, but unlike some people at least I can count! ;)
Skuzzy violated a cardinal rule of sysadmins by working on, or allowing work to be done on the power supply while the sever was running. A predictable, scheduled server down-time is always preferable to a screw-up like this. Skuzzy threw a fit and blamed the electrician instead of saying sorry; in fact none of his posts or HTC's announcements on the web site has expressed regret for any inconvenience this might have been for their customers. I simply can't respect that.
This will be my last obvious shade, so a cookie to the first who spot me later on: Let the witch hunt begin! ;)
-
Just go away instead.

Skuzzy violated a cardinal rule
You calling someone out on cardinal rule violations is a crack up considering your posts here have violated one of the most sacred of man-laws: Don't act like a freakin' tool.
Only secondary to this in severity is your estrogen drenched attention whoring.
:aok
-
*slaps forehead*

LOL. This is way better than TV. Keep up the good work Skuzzy :aok

how about just not being a tool about it and enjoying what we have here?
what honor is there in skulking anyway? pretty juvenile. imho.
anywho.

-
Think of the fun we cam have hunting for embarrassing lumps... :lol
I know who he is now ...;)
-
Oh geez, just what I need, an arrogant, egotistical, narccisistic, child on my hands. OY!
-
You say that as if it's an unusual occurance......
-
Well, to be fair, he is reaching new lows in those areas. I can only recall one other person who managed to reach the plateau this one has.
I have never understood the mentality that wants to make being banned from a bulletin board a game.
-
I've never understood it either. The fixation some people have with BBS's is just astounding.
-
*cough* jedi forum *cough*
Think I'll be quiet now :).
-
Wow! Just Wow!
This guy seems to have some jealousy issues. Stalking someone and presuming to know all the background details of what happened is pretty arrogant.
He is probably reading these posts and laughing at how clever he is. Truth is, if you want to find fault in anything, you can. It does not take a very bright person to do it.
Uhmmm,..being fairly new here, what is the reference to the "jedi forum" mean?
-
<circular gesture> There is no jedi forum.

Well, despite the comments of "some" the rest of us really appreciate your hard work. :rock

I know. And while I aprpeciate the 'atta-boys', I do not live for them. I just do the best I can everyday.
I have had to deal with his type of ilk before. It is part and parcel with being in a service business.
There is always someone who thinks they can do it better. The first failure of that person is not even asking any questions to determine the circumstances of the situation.
Sort of like walking into a bar, then telling the bar tender he screwed up or he would not have to be punching that guy in his face. You can imagine what follows.
-

He's sore at the US for the demise of the Soviet Union. I never really understood why.

There's an Me-410 joke in there somewhere but I just can't find it.

:aok
He's just sore at the US period, and I've never really understood why either. I've also never understood his fixation w/ this board and his apparent need to participate even when he has been banned repeatedly. Kinda like Beet1e heh.
-
well if that's not an admission that elfie is beet1e, i don't know what is.
heh.
