Hmmm...  On the PLUS side of the fence this makes finding fights easier.

On the MINUS side, however, it makes intercepting bombers easier, while attacking Strats becomes meaningless except for the point value.
 :salute

Oh... Absolutely LOVED seeing the KI-84 in there tonight before my ISP went Tango Uniform.  hehehe. :devil

Total BS.

Maybe thats because the 190D9 (good chance that the model that killed you) is faster then the P51D and most alts.

Question:  If the 190D-9 was a full sector behind, how did he even see you to know to chase you down?  Even if he saw you on radar, you're saying he completed 3 sectors in the time it took you to complete 2.  Let's say you were doing 400mph, for the sake of argument, then the 190D-9 pilot had to be going 600mph to catch you.  Maybe it was a 262 made to look like a D-9? :D

#1:   There is no safety in the ack in AvA, right now.

#2:  VWE, his wingman must've been exercising his right and duty of rule #3

From VWE's sig, which is one of the best IMO.
The only 3 things a wingman should ever say:

1. Two's up...
2. Lead, YOUR ON FIRE!!
3. I'll take the fat chick.

What Shifty said.

HamBlue's wingie probably couldn't hear the cries of help whilst performing the "motorboat".

I'm usually not one to complain but tonight was the worse I've seen the AvA.
You work at taking out a radar and find that both sides see everyone on each side?
I'm in a P51D in a shallow dive for 2 sectors full throttle and a 190 catches me after being a full sector behind?
Total BS.

...er...BlueTop?  If so, I think that was me.

Yes, I was flying a Dora at the time.  You slowed down, it seemed, just before you started rocketing the radar antenna.  Dora would have caught you anyway, as others have mentioned.

- oldman (and I don't think I was ever a full sector behind, I think I turned as you passed above me)

Instead of running why don't you try dogfighting the 190? P-51 is a match for any 190 if flown by a competent stick.

Also, a 190D will catch the P-51D, especially once the P-51 runs out of WEP.

I think he knows that, now.  It wasn't the last time he was run down by a Dora, yesterday evening. :devil

Title: Icon Range ???
Post by: Chilli on June 02, 2008, 10:56:52 AM
Although I agree it improves the chances of finding  a fight  :aok :aok  I am shaking my head that it would be implemented (other than for trial purposes  :aok :aok ) over increasing the icon range.  I asked for the icon range to be increased to promote more fights.  In the past, the answer has been, AvA has always been that way.  Well, here's your chance to correct that.

Ham, the settings are being tweaked while we are in boot camp for Battle of Aces.  I am putting the word out how great the AvA is and how much fun.  I expect to see new squads flying AvA this war.  AvA staff is doing a great job of looking into past complaints, at the top of their list has to be vulching and milkrunning.  If the GPS settings of the current setup will help in either of these cases, I am for it.  If they are looking to promote fights, please look at increasing icon range.

Icon range will help keep enemy from slipping by avoiding detection.  I can't tell you how much it improves SA.  The arguement that it is not necessary (then do away with it all together).

Settings are great, right now as it is only boot camp, and the BoA hasn't started.

Rather than worry about current arena settings, start worrying about your respective C.O. and if he has his crap together.  Are your squads ready?  Does everyone know their job?  Can they perform their job efficiently?

These should be the burning questions because, know you this, very shortly......

Having been station in the Uk for three years drinking their warm beer. I did like nothing better than a TDY to Germany.
I have to agree with you on this one.

I have to agree with you on this one.

It's not the temperature, it's the taste.

" Warum ist das Amerikanische Bier kalt, das gedient wird? So können Sie es von urine." erklären; - David Moulton

Translation...........

Why is the American beer served so cold?  So you can tell the difference between it, and urine?

There is something gross and too fruity about too warm of fermentation temperatures.  The UK still needs to discover the benefits of colder fermentation temps, and lagering of their beers.

But....  a good stout is something I will never turn down.

There's German ales.

I much prefer the tastes of ales over lagers, especially a good hoppy India Pale Ale.  :aok

The real translation of that "German" is:

"Why is the American beer cold, that's being attended? So you can from urin explain"

What you gave as translation would read like this in German:

"Warum wird das Amerikanische Bier so kalt serviert? Damit man es von Urin unterscheiden kann!" (Usually you would substitute "Urin" with a less noble vocable ;) )

No need to cry over Dot dar guys. This is temprorary. Everything is being set up for BoA, this war is basically something to hold us over and  give us something to do. Just go out and practice killing the other side for BoA, no need for whinning.

I didn't approve the fundding for that.  Any POW will be shot or chain to a tree.

It made sense at the end of the night when one in the squad noted that radar etc was off.  Not all knew that, especially on the allied side.  Otherwise atacking radar wouldn't have been done. Also heading home thinking you're safe with radar out would have been a no brainer.  I think it's funny as hell, (really do) that those that have been around the longest take advantage of this to rack up kills when they don't need to.  They're also the same one's that time and again brag about changing sides when they're on the losing side, but didn't last night because they happened to start out on the strong side.  :aok
Happy flying.

I think it would be interesting if icons were turned off, period, since we can't fly the same planes like we can in the MA's.

Sorry Lusche,

Going from memory.  I am getting rusty since my Oma passed away.  It has been almost 2 years since German has been spoken very much around here.

I defer to your expertise on these matters.   (as for urine?  there wasn't much use of that word around here)   :lol
