Title: I Love Republicans
Post by: rpm on June 02, 2008, 01:10:51 PM
Another example of why I just simply love republican politicians.

http://www.wcmessenger.com/data/news/EkEEAlkFyABWXkwuKI.php (http://www.wcmessenger.com/data/news/EkEEAlkFyABWXkwuKI.php)

We have more DOT officers than any county in the state. We have 2 weigh stations in addition to the roving units that randomly pull over trucks. After a string of accidents involving trucks last month where car drivers were completely at fault, our 100% republican County Commission decided to put out bids for yet another weigh station. [sarcasm]Because a weigh station will fix the problem.[/sarcasm]

Yeah, that's the ticket! It's not because we have the worst highway engineer in the state designing our intersections and roads. It's not because 80 year old drivers don't pay attention and pull out in front of trucks going 55mph down a grade. It's not because the state sells permits for trucks to drive overweight on any road in the state for $200 a year. It's because of those unsafe, overweight trucks.

The DPS admits it's not the trucks at fault.
Quote
"A majority of the time the accidents are not the truck drivers' faults,

Maybe the truth is a bit deeper than that.
Quote
County Commissioner Robert Rankin said revenue from fines collected at the weigh station on Texas 114 goes to the county.

Aaah. Now it makes sense.

Let's go after the weakest link in the foodchain, that's the republican solution.

You left out vital information!

It's not because we have the worst highway engineer in the state designing our intersections and roads.

It's not because 80 year old drivers don't pay attention and pull out in front of trucks going 55mph down a grade.

We cannot make a reasoned response with out knowing the engineers political affiliation.

What is the affiliation of most of these slow old drivers?

Without this vital information, your post is lacking.

rpm, do you try to tie everything that is not right back to republicans?

Isn't it obvious? The engineer has to be a republican or he would'nt have the job. The drivers must be Democrats because they're doing nothing to stop them from being killed.

Seriously tho, all they see is a chance to install a cash register.

Donzo, in this case that's exactly what it is. Robert Rankin is a retired DPS "weights and measures" officer. He just lost the election so this is his swan song as a lame duck to screw the truckers one more time.

If there were one, just one Democrat on the Commission then I wouldn't have a leg to stand this arguement on. But there isn't.

The fallacy here is the assumption that if the entire commission were Democrat, they wouldn't put up another weigh station to fatten the county coffers.

Go ahead; make the case that Democrats in office are not as money hungry as the Republicans.

Sheesh. There's no difference. If the Dems were in office they'd be looking for new revenue streams just as hard and just as hungrily.

Face it, the taxpayer is the meat and the Dem's and Rep's are the slices of bread in the sandwich. One slice might be whole wheat and the other bleached wheat but there's not real difference.

Toad, if it were Democrats then I'd have your side of the board crying foul and I would'nt have to be guidon bearer.

Now since the trend in these accidents is people over 70 pulling out in front of trucks, does it make sense to go after the truckers that are the victims in these accidents?

RPM, why do you think it would be any different?

All politicians do, all they WANT to do is spend someone else's money. The money has to come from somewhere; the government has no money of its own.

If the Dems were in, they'd be taking money from the taxpayers just as fast as the Reps do.

And you can take that one to the bank IF you have anything left after they rob you.

If your neighbor came into your house and took your money, you'd scream for the cop and your neighbors would support you. The government takes our money and we all bleat like the good sheep we are.

RPM, while you are notorious for tossing stinky bait, this is about the worst chum you've ever tossed in the water.  Are you running out of ideas?

rpm....I'll trade two Arkansas Democrats for one of your Republicans.  If that isn't acceptable, I've been authorized to up the bid to three.

These are the same democrats who, five years ago when a state-wide teacher shortage loomed, thought that the way to attract more college grads into the teaching field was to make the requirements to become a teacher more strict:  more education hours;  more workshop hours, etc.  They're the same democrats who authorized the trade of prime virgin hardwood in the state wildlife parks to drooling timber companies in exchange for freshly cut pine plantations.

Would you take four?

Shuckins, I feel your pain. You don't even want to get me started on schools under Texas republicans.

Toad, I've never said Democrats aren't after a buck. They just tend to go after bigger fish.

Isn't the Republican mantra smaller, less intrusive government? Then why are they building one that's larger and more intrusive?

Obviously he's a Republican--were he a Democrat, he'd be a teacher, lawyer, journalist, or possibly poly-sci grad :D

Hey RPM, maybe you can find solace by going with the Green Party and their Pres. candidate Cynthia McKinney.

Tossing me a softball slo-pitch? Thanks!

Because (duh) they're POLITICIANS just like the Dems. As laz says, Dems run towards socialism, Reps walk towards socialism. Their goals are the same, their methods are the same, they ARE the same.... one is just a little faster than the other.

YIKES!  Forget that.

Welcome to Arkansas where ZERO drivers education meets every other road distraction to prove Darwin's theory of survival of those who can actually pay attention.

BTW: Texas drivers here on our roads OWN the express lane.  It's like they forgot to explain that the express lane was for passing other vehicles down there.  Nothing to see a totally clear road in the traffic lane and Texas drivers in the express lane passing nobody.

There needs to be a national drivers ED and national road/written test requirement.  I swear less than 10% of Arkansas drivers could pass one.

Ah another hit piece by RPM claiming how the world is afoul for not being in the political party as he.

Silly me thought he was trying to make a valid point about something.  Ha!
