Title: Fuel dump
Post by: SEraider on June 02, 2008, 01:22:07 PM
I would think this would be an easy feature to add.  Can we do it where we hit a shift+"key" and the plane would dump 12.5% of the tank each time (1/8)?

or a 12.5%, 15% and 20% fuel option for lancs lol

I like the idea but I do not think it will happen

Most planes in World War 2 did not have inflight fuel dump capability....

I would like to see the ability to tailor the fuel loadout in each tank in 5 or 10 gallon intervals preflight.

In fact I am unaware of any combat aircraft in WWII that could dump fuel.

Agreed! The difference between 50%-75% in a 38 is over a hundred gallons. It would be nice if I could add say, 50 gallons, instead.

Correct me if i'm wrong but the 51d and B-17's did have that capability.

I liked WarBirds' method; before you took off, you entered in what percentage of fuel you wanted. Instead of 25% intervals, it was 1% intervals. Very handy.

However, I believe that was a "dumb weight" system, where it just added more weight to one spot depending on the plane's natural CoG or something. Aces High actually models it per-tank.

Interesting thought.  But imagine how the crew of a B-17 flying over Germany might react if you announced you were about to dump 30% of the fuel in the airplane because you had a hot date waiting for you.   They might decide to throw more than just fuel overboard.   I would go along with the fuel dump option if an increasing crew "mutiny" percentage die roll was also included for each dump.

This would only be done after an exhaustive virtual environmental impact study. :salute

yea, i have always thought it would b a nice thing 2 have... i mean.. if u load up a plane heavy cause your going far, and u get jumped half way there and u still got like 75% tank left, u should b able 2 dump some  so u can accually fight
