While golfing with rabbidrabbit at my club.
My swing is about in-between yours and rabbidrabbits - nice easy motion - nice downward turn and inevitably falling backwards and perplexed as to why I sliced it again :)

From my pov you don't need help. Hell when I get a chance to play I loose between 16-18 balls on the tee when I use a driver but get me mad enough to start using a 1 Iron off the tee and I can get pretty decent. Only shot under a 100 twice in the 15 years I have been playing.

Red I would try to eliminate the lateral move in your backswing. Notice how much your head, upper body and especially right knee shift as you take the club up. Every bit you move away from the ball on the backswing is now what you have to make up for on the downswing, which if you stay back a bit you'll hit a sweeper left or if you compensate too much you'll get ahead and hit a bleeder right. Try to keep the weight on the inside of the right foot going back and don't let the right knee move right at all, just rotate, don't actually shift the weight right.
I'm not a stack and tilt guy at all, but I don't really believe there is a literal weight shift in the golf swing. It's a coil and uncoil, getting loaded up by rotating the upper body behind the ball, then uncoiling from the core driving the club down into the zone.
Eliminating the shift back and through will help your ballstiking. By not shifting your centerline stays fairly constant, and the club will bottom out in the arc at your centerline. Don't move it and as long as your tempo is good you will always get the club on the back of the ball where you want it, not behind or ahead of it. It just simplifies the swing and makes it more efficient while not giving away any power at all. If anything it might gain you a few yards, for when you keep the weight inside the right foot it really creates some tension and tourque in your right leg you can explode off of.
Here's an example of what I'm talking about. Compare your backswing to this.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=PPnZE3IrHWk (http://youtube.com/watch?v=PPnZE3IrHWk)
Kostis talks a lot about Tiger's triangle here, but pay attention to his upper body, head and especially left shoulder. He's worked very hard on his uppper body motion to get rid of the block. His old swing had a lot of shift back which at his speed made it very difficult for him to move back to the left and also release the club. He'd get stuck underneath and we all know what happenes when he does that. Now he just loads, notice how his head barely moves and he just coils, the left should loading behind the golf ball but not physically shifting. From there all he has to do is unwind, not unwind and shift. It's much more efficient and again, he hasn't lost any power, just gained consistency.
Give it a try, it can only help ya bud.

Here's another great example, from the master himself. No shift at all, just load, then unload from the core driving him down into the zone.

Tiger's is the only swing to ever rival this one.

Stang...how about some pointers for me?
-
Sure thing Curval, give me a bit to digest it I'm the only one in the shop atm and it's the busiest golfing day of the year hehe. At first glance your grip is way too strong, but it fits your handsy swing to be able to square the club up. You need more arm extension and body turn, don't flip the club around you so much, try to keep the club in front of you more throughout the swing, and that's accomplished by turning more. Really try to get your right shoulder back to where from your pov it points at your left toe. I bet at the top of your swing right now if you hold it that shoulder points at your right toe, so you really haven't completed the backswing by turning, but by flipping with the hands. This loses power and increases inconsistency. Keep the arms extended and turn.
I love southpaws though.
:aok
-
Also remeber the hands in the swing only hinge up and unhinge down, they never laterally open or close. If you flip the club inside by breaking the hands left, you really have to flip them right on the downswing to make up for flipping the club dead shut behind you. Use more of a one piece all together takeaway by turning, then hinge the hands up gradually as you turn. You'll have to weaken that left hand a bit in the grip not to flip it quick inside though.
I'll keep adding things as I have time to do so.
-
I need some time to digest what you wrote and do some practice swings to see what you mean.
Thanks though...always up for some constructive criticism. :aok
Okay if I post some more clips later?

I would say the same thing as stang, just say it differently. I also developed my swing with the same extend, turn and coil concept. The less moving parts, the better, especially on iron shots.
I said little swing, Redtop, because it's not a big swing yet with long extension. That head dip and forward slide in front of the ball at impact came by adjusting to stop a hook? It leads you to hit some blocked shots once in a while, I suppose. Would need to see some shots down the line, though. I'm sure your hand-eye coordination is keeping it in check, but less motion would be nice to see. Things collapse a little on the downswing instead of extending.
Man, I would love to see you keep that head a little higher and locked throughout the swing. It would let you extend more down the line, making you more consistent in direction, and your distance with irons would be more precise and repeatable, time after time. Lot of moving parts there to keep in check.
Takeaway could be a little longer. I know I'm harping on extension, but that's the difference with a "tour quality" swing. When your club is horizontal during your takeaway, the toe of the club should be straight vertical and your wrists should not be hinging yet. If you laid a club on the ground along your toes, then another club extended off it toward your right, your shaft should appear to be directly over the shaft on the ground when it's horizontal during the takeaway. Then begin your wrist hinge as you turn your back to the target and get the club to the top.
From your address position, take the club back until the shaft is horizontal, stop and check that position. If it's not right, put the club in the right position (directly over the club on the ground, toe pointed straight up) then turn your head back to the proper position so you can feel that position without looking at it. Repeat that over and over (forever) until you can hit that position every time. It's the same for all the sticks in your bag.
Great rhythm. I like your hands at release and follow through, but longer down the line with a longer extension would be sweet.
Nice pink shirt, too. :D
-
Yeah, that's a hard clip to see a lot of detail on. Basically get the body turning right from the start and keep the hands more in front of you as you swing instead of letting the hands and club flip behind you.
Tell rabbid to tuck his shirt in and lose the knee-high socks though.

Absolutely agree Rolex, but if he keeps himself from moving right on the backswing he won't move left ahead of it coming down. It's a cause and effect problem, if he doesn't go right he won't go left. Stay centered and coil, maintain the head height and don't let the right knee buckle out.
I agree with the extension part but the lateral shift is the more pressing issue. Extension will give him some more pop but won't increase his consistency or ball striking. Working on the body motion will. Add the two together and he could go take Hale Irwin's money every week.

You look so sexy in that shirt, big boy. :uhoh
Whoops, nice swing though. :D
-
Yup, agree 100% stang. Keeping more solid from the ground up, and coiling more instead of sliding, should be the most important focus. That's enough to keep him busy :) Don't even need to be at the range to practice that.
