It seems that we've got a lot of messages in our forums. Is there a particular business reason we don't archive messages over one year old? At combatsim.com - we always archive forum messages so that our current active forums are more efficient and faster, not being bogged down by old irrevelant messages. The archives are searchable however, as they often contain helpful information of how-to's and guides. :)

I'd be satisfied with an "automatic lock" on any message that's over 6 weeks old, to prevent "stupidity bumps".
Otherwise, I'd say that however the good folks at HTC want to do it is fine with me...

Looking at the number of old threads being resurrected, I'd say that's not a bad idea.

I like the idea, but either the time frame needs to longer (one calandar year) and the folks who scream "use the search option" for a thread from 7 years ago need to let it go. Non-bumpable after a calendar year is about right, then if need be, and the topic is still viable, start a new one.
On last year's "First Annual Aces High Recipe Swap" thread, folks kept making use of and posting new recipies for over 8 months.
We'll start another one in July...One calandar year from the first one. (You guys owe me a gym membership for the weight gained from the first one! :lol) Those BBQ, Mexican, grilling, & Asian recipies were AWESOME!

For fun, look at the oldest threads.
