make "join requests" show up in the text buffer only and not as a big square box in the middle of your screen?

Thank you Lusche. In WB's we had a .cfg file that you could enter dot commands into and they would run automatically when you logged into an arena. Does AH have something similar?

Once you enter the .showjoin command it will stay active session to session. You don't have to type it in each time you log on.

No.

I might add that once you have set showjoin=0, it usually stays that way.
When you enter arena, you can read the system message "join requests are displayed in your message bar" as a confirmation that it's still activated.
If not it's time to .showjoin 0 again ;)

Unfortunately this command works only for gunner join requests, not for squad invites - they will always pop in a message box.

Okay, that should do the trick. I'm just a little tired of having the big join request box pop up in the middle of a fight.

Not true.  You have to do it for each arena and after time it seems to re-set.  As Lusche said, there is a message when you log in that says "Join requests will be displayed in the text buffer" or something to that effect.  If it's not there when you log in then you have to re-set the showjoin 0.
