If you like virtuoso bass players--check out Les Claypool (Primus)
The Bass player (name escapes me at the moment) from Dream Theatre will give your guy a run for his money!!
Enjoy,

Still, Wooten...Holy Cow

James Jamerson is the greatest bassist of them all. Tony Levin is up there as well.
As for bands, there is one band that is at the top of my list.

Wow. From the bands listed in this thread so far, I"ll assume the greater majority of you folks are drawing social security, lol.

Anyway, Radiohead, Tool, Pink Floyd. Love a lot of classic rock, and some alternative and more contemporary stuff, but those are the top three by a good margin.

If you're posting on this forum, you owe it to yourself to check out Corb Lund (he's a Canuck, so we should all thank Thrawn, since they all know each other up there).
I wanna be in the Calvary:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1V3JW4HeBs&feature=related
Horse Soldier! Horse Soldier! (live)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oa7N7MsTp80
The live version of Horse Soldier doesn't do it justice, though the comment that "[This song] is for all the nerds like me who stay up all night watching world war II documentaries" The line "with a crack flanking manuever, I'm an Ulahn Alles Uber striking terror into regiments afoot" makes me awful proud.

It may be splitting hairs, but its much more folk (think Johnny Horton and/or Wood Guthrie)

depends on what song your listening to. "gonna shine up my boots" and "family reunion" are much more country than folk.

Oh sure, add a banjo, and it's country! :D
Family Reunion kills me. Just kills me. I wonder if we can get him to play the next CON?

-Sik
-
opps forgot... dam Alzheimers.
Wait...
What was this thread about?
Dammm... I just pee'd.
-
You know what always chaps my ass? "Long cool woman in a black dress" isn't by CCR.
Under normal circumstances, I could give a toejam, but the idea that Allan Clarke could sound more like John Fogerty, than John himself is puzzling to me. I mean, compare "Bus Stop" to "Long cool woman" I reall wish I better understood what was gong on there. It really seems like those to would have had to have been connected.

Dam good song.
A very strange conceptual video for "The Air That I breathe" that was on the "Long Cool Woman" link. This is my favorite Hollies song.
