Not sure why the B25C was used when the B-26 has more ord, defensive guns and speed.
And a reminder that a CiC should try to take into account what a squad has flown lately. I know we were due for bombers(even requested them), but 25s twice in a row was hard to swallow.

We did try to take into account as you point out you requested bombers I had no idea you had b25's last frame as cic the best was done to give all request for rides i could. Also want to say thanks to allied pilots
Tull for the mission plan Cm's for a great time and to the axis pilots for great sportsmanship :salute

The Unforgiven asked to be in bombers, as per thier request that's what I assigned them.
As CiC you have certain stipulations on aircraft that must be met. I believe the B-26 could have been substituted for the B-25, but I received no request from the Unforgiven after orders were released to be switched. Sometimes it turns out you have to stick a squad with a bummer ride that they don't prefer, and you just have to do the best with what ya got. Honestly I don't know that much about the bombers, except B-17's. So I assigned aircraft based upon my orders.
About the only thing I could suggest, if you prefer a spicific kind of plane, make sure that's listed in your prefrence. Also, if you've flown something the frame before and didn't like it, make sure to contact the CiC of the next frame immediately and request that you'd like something else. We do try to help out and make everyone happy. Sometimes we can, sometimes not. Hopefully you still gave it to the axis good with the 25's.

Gents,
I was the one who wrote the OPORD with the airframe assignments. I used all the info that I had available to put people into the rides that they perfered. I must appologise that I did not know that you flew the B-25 last time. What people flew in during the last frames was information that I was unable to gather due to the BBS being down during the time I was completing the OPORD. I also did not appreciate the differences between the B-25 and B-26. Therefore, I am the one that you can vent at in that it was my doing. :salute

You're right RSL, but for what it is worth I always e-mail the CiC directly and make a request if we don't want a repeat ride or we are looking forward to a certain ride.
With the size of FSO and the increasingly more detailed orders for plane sets requirements I can see CiC's feeling a bit overwhelmed if they have a busy week in real life. Getting it all figured out and done can easily take up 4+ hours of a work week. For those with a busy work schedule that is a big chunk of time and any direct communications with the CiC can only help you get the ride you want, or don't want.

Tull,
Sorry if you took it as a vent. Just wanted to know if there was a particular reason that was not immediately apparent to me.
What was apparent was that you put a lot of work into the orders. I used to review the logs for the past 6-9 frames while chooseing rides for a side. With the surge in new squads in FSO, I may skip that step myself. Logs starting to look like the stocks page in a news paper. It is time consuming.
Also, I know my squad bares some resposiblity in speaking up. Both the CO and XO have been tied up lately. Thought about asking for a change in the tower, but it was hard enough getting squared away without the officers. We managed to pick a flight leader out of the cat hurd, but that's as far as we got before TO.
Well, enough hind sight. :salute and well played Tull

RSLQK186,
I did not take what you said as anything but constructive. I also want the critiques to be sent my way instead of DH’s. I considered what you said as a lesson learned for any future time that I may be given the honor to develop the Air Tasking Order for a Frame. I personally do not fly B-25C or B-26 enough to appreciate the differences. If the BBS does not go down on the day that the OPORD is published I will use the collective knowledge of the group to refine the airframe tasking. Thank you for the kind words on the Frame #3 OPORD. I hope that I get the opportunity to do it again. :aok

While there are defensive differences between the B-25 and B-26, the top bomb load is only 1 extra bomb (4 vs 3), and the B-25 is fairly fast at all alts, especially with WEP.
Considering the time frame this FSO took place in, I find it relatively unlikely the LW's planes would have run across many (any?) B-26s.
B-25 was the good choice, IMO.

The 450th and the 452nd, both squadrons of the 322nd Group flew there first mission May 14th, 1943. So they would have been relatively new to the Theater.
