Post by: DEAR98 on May 26, 2008, 10:58:42 AM
Me and 0100 tried to get to 100K,in 163s from a 20K base. Highest eather one of us got was 95K so has eney got to a 100k?

It use to be that if you went over 35k you were immediately sent to the deck. Guess that's not in force anymore.

just adjust fuel burn  :)

Adjusting fuel burn doesn't affect the 163, it will still burn the fuel at the same rate.

163s use rocket fuel, changing fuel burn doesn't affect it.

:rofl

DEAR, how did you do that?  I have trouble getting the 163 over 60K.

I think my record in a propeller plane is something like 53K in a Jug in the TA.

Off line.  Change from 2x to somthing else.  0.2x perhaps?

You can change it all you want...but it won't affect the 163's fuel burn.

163 has an independent fuel burn. You can make Fuel burn 100 times as fast as it does and 163 will have same flight time.

Go offline, Turn wind on with a full uplift (127mph uplift) for all alts. When you get to a certain alt, you can see that the sun is a 2d object in the game. Then if you want to break the speed of sound turn the wind off, turn your engine on (163) and go straight down.

I got to 90K once. I could have gotten to 100K easy, but I wanted to try and break mach 1.10  ;)

I had a 163 up to 67,900 ft once in the TA. No wind and launched from A1 (o ft base).

I think that is approaching it's limit of climb-able altitude, with no outside assists.

cheers,

I think AHI had a 35K ceiling.

AHII had a 50K ceiling, but that was recently upped to 100K with one of the recent updates (I remember reading that on the updated features list).

I got up to about 135k in a P15 with no wings, I also got up to 100k in a B17 with no wings. I'm sure some of you old farts will remember this fun bug. Ahh days of the AH ICBM launcher.

I'm pretty sure that when I climbed to 67K it was back in the AHI days. I don't recall a 35K ceiling (or a 50K ceiling for that matter).

The earth did indeed look round from that height, and it took way longer to come down than it did to get up there <G>

cheers.

I remember reading it too in one of the recent change logs. Think it may have been in the update that changed the terrain to the newer style, but not 100%.

A1 is a 3k base

The old TA A1 was a 0'K base. We had a completely different map in the TA in those days. Probably a bit before your time :)

88,000 and change, and the thing went out of control. it seemed as if there was no lift whatsoever. it took me till 30,000 or so to regain control.

I once made it to the moon...  But unfortunately I got too low and hit a sheep somewhere near the Sea of Tranquility.   :D

Went to just past 90k and then got forced into an outside type of view where I could not see the plane,
only a white disk below, about half the size of the screen, that was the earth.

I was still climbing at a good pace but since I couldn't see the instruments, I don't know when it crashed.
I'll assume 100k.

I had to have full flaps with an indicated of 100 and a true of nearly 700.

I did this offline in a 163 with full wind...didn't even need the engine until after 30k or so, just floated straight up :D

I did this a few times just to see if the same thing happens...it does.  You loose view of the
plane at around 90k or just over and crash at 100k.  Perhaps this is only offline where you get forced out of the cockpit past 90k?

I made it to 49K and change one day in a 163 chasing a P-51 when I experienced mach tuck (look it up) for the first time.  I went into a violent spin and didn't recover until I hit 3K.
