You know, sitting here repeatedly trying to log into Orange Arena where everybody I know is, looking at the server max (currently 255/100), give us a break already!
Most of the folks logged on currently aren't even actively flying, they just stay logged in all day because it's such a pain to get back on.
Is there some bored admin messing with people, or is this an automatic thing that can be bypassed somehow?

I think it's 'unfair' the way it is, and I think that it would also be 'unfair' to kick people who haven't been doing anything for some amount of time.
I think the solution would be to send inactive players into some sort of "waiting mode" whereby they are removed from the roster list (and the server max 255/100 or whatever would go down to 254/100), and other players are allowed to join. Then, when that player became active again, the server max would become 255/101.
I can't think of any disadvantages for my idea (yet).

I have to sympathize with TowDog, It's kinda dumb when the max is lower than the number of folks trying to log in. I spent 15 minutes the other night waiting to get in while I looked at the Early, Mid War and A vs A arenas sitting there with a handful of folks playing and the max at 350. A bit of overkill there I think.
Those arenas could easily be set to 150 and apply the bandwidth to Orange and Blue arenas :uhoh :rolleyes:

It's not about bandwith.
Lowering the EW caps to 150, 100 or even 50 would have NO influence whatsoever on LW arenas.

Well, I looked it up and from what i gather it's to force people into other arenas :(

I'm NOT interested in Early War or Mid War or Axis vs Allies. What I am interested in is Late War Orange and Blue. Everyone is big on ět`s my 15 bux and I`ll play the way I want!, but it would seem that doesn`t apply in this case :furious :cry :mad:

you guys might not agree with him...but imo i think the area cap thing is a bunch of crap
and i think the food at mcdonalds is crap as well but i still pay for it...oh well :noid :cry

Not trying to defend Arena Caps, but one LW arena is always open to join

In the last couple of weeks I've been hit the arena cap BS pretty hard. Like the OP said, try to log into LW Orange and it's at 250/100. Well, I guess I'll have to go to LW Blue since it's at 50/150. The place is a ghost town and the map sucks as well. I guess it's good as a time as any to take up drinking.

Be part of the soloution.
MANY times I've seen whacked arena caps. If blue gets up to about 170...join it and bide your time. Seems many times when it gets to 175 it kicks a magic number and Orange allows more people in. Give it a try sometime.

Agreed. Oh yea BTW, the only reason why its hard to get into the arenas is b/c Its sqeeker season.

The real problem is the sucktastic maps that crop up. I would happily fly in Blue all the time if it weren't for a few maps that I hate enough to attempt to get into Orange.

Yeah the want to go to one when my squad is in the one I got disconnected from and a good fight is already underway. Yeah that makes me not want to go to the other arenas. Problem with how I put it as paying for what is the equivelant of a busy signal or something?

I agree, this BS player limiting is annoying as hell. I pay for this game to go where I want, not to be told where to go. I want to go play with my friends, not go into a nearly empty room that will never get populated.
HTC should change the way they do this player thing, maybe combine the two servers because its completely useless the way they do it right now.

I think its rather stupid when some times both arena's will be something like 90/400 in one arena and 120/400 in another. Then when there are more people on its something like 320/250 in one arena and 70/320 in another arena. I think that both LW arena's should have at the very minimum cap of 300 at all times.

If i get kicked from a server and want to get back into it with my squaddies and play that's a me me me attitude? Wow I didn't know that would be really selfish of me.

So your saying that with lets say 400 in the arena, it's locked to anyone else, but only 200 of the 400 are actively playing in that arena, rest just sitting waiting or not even online, should preclude anyone else who actually want to fly in that arena from joining? I'm thinking the guy camping the arena without actually playing because he has the "ME" attitude for that arena should be stopped.
Personally i never have liked side balancing or eny and i've made my feelings known from the start. I fly for 1 country at the start of the month and stay there for the month. I take the good with the bad as far as numbers and rides go. I may not like it, but hey it's a war simulation and in war i wouldn't just jump ship if i was loseing, i'd fight harder and smarter. Sure i might lose but at least i'd know i tried my best.

I have a mixed opinion about the server caps, except for daytime hours.
Recently, Hitech changed the total for Orange which is great until that period of time comes to a close (about 2pm est). At that time, even if there is 300/100 guys in Orange, Blue will have 30/250 or so and makes life difficult for those with limited flight times.
I wish they'd have a small map in Blue at all times to take advantage of the smaller numbers in there and also to give a nice alternative to Orange's large map. Then again, that is another discussion altogether...

As far as "squatters" go, perhaps code a maximum 30 minute inactivity cycle whereby thereafter you're bounced back to the lobby.

Please (I beg of you) check arena caps at 1:00 PM EDST or 12:00 Noon CDST. There is no such thing as 400. It's stuck on 150 or 200 during European Prime Time. Your alternative is to go to Blue arena where it's 24/200 and fly 7 grids to find a fight.
Yout squatters limit would be great. By some of their own confessions, some of them sign on Orange early and go dormant allday just to get in.
